My multimedia workshop with deal with teaching a professional development on technological educational tools that can be used to increase student reading retention for the 6-8 ELA classroom. I have chosen three multimedia artifacts for this module and they are as follows:
1) www.studyisland.com
This website can either be used as an individualized program or a teacher led program and it includes interactive lessons and activities for students. This website also has real time progress monitoring so that teacher's are able to actively monitor student progress.
2) www.readingmate.com
This website is an individualized intervention program for grades 4-12. It gives students the opportunity to read independently and presents various texts from different cultural traditions and time periods.
3) www.teenbiz3000.com
This website is an individualized reading program that creates reading texts at the student's current reading level followed by a multiple choice quiz and a thought question on the article. This site has a progress monitoring system that allows teachers to access student scores from the multiple choice quiz and responses to the thought question.

1) Youtube www.youtube.com This site allows users to view videos on a selected topic. This would be useful in pre-training because it allows them to see various teachers or individuals using the educational technology that will be discussed. This site also allows gives them ideas on how to implement the educational technology into their own classrooms.This site is easy to navigate and allows for users to create their own videos.
2) Teachertube www.teachertube.com. This site is similiar to youtube but is geared towards educators and students. It allows teachers to see how teachers and students are using the educational technology and how to implement it into their own classroom. This site allows users to create their own videos to share which is useful as well for classroom activities and
assessment tools.
Graphic Organizer:
1) Inspiration www.inspiration.com This site allows for students and teachers to create concept maps, graphic organizers, mind maps and plots and graphs. This site is useful in helping students to organize their thoughts and in helping teachers to present information in an organized fashion. This site is fairly easy to use and can be implemented quite easily in the classroom.
2) freemind www.freemind.sourceforge.net. This site allows for creating mind maps. Texts and pictures can be implemented into the graphic organizers for added creativity.
Presentation:
1) Windows Movie Maker windows-movie-maker.soft32.com/. This software can be downloaded and used to create movies that can be used for presentation or assessment purposes. This software is quite easy to use and allows for videos, text and audio to be added into your presentation. Teachers can use this to showcase classroom material or can use this as an assessment piece by having students create their own presentations.
2) Powerpoint office.microsoft.com/en-us/powerpoint/. This software can be downloaded on Windows and Mac computers and it allows for students and teachers to create presentations on various topics. This software is very easy to use and allows for videos, audio and text to be embedded in the presentation. Also, the use of transition graphics adds an interesting element to the presentation.
Authentic Assessment Activity:
1) Wikispace www.wikispace.com This site allows for students and teachers to build webpages that can be used for collaboration, presentation and assessment purposes. This site is easy to navigate and allows for true interaction between the teacher and students because they are able to communicate with one another through the use of the webpage.
2) Polleverywhere www.polleverywhere.com This is an audience response system that allows for the audience to respond to various questions embedded in the presentation in real time by using cell phones or other devices. This allows the teacher to have real time feedback and also allows for easy assessment of what is understood and what needs to be covered in more detail.
