The topic of my five hour professional development multimedia workshop is the use of a commercial online course development tool, Lectora Inspire. The Lectora website http://lectora.com/ offers several demos, tutorials and free trails. These are all examples of learner-centered approaches to multimedia design. To answer Mayer's question, 'How can we adapt multimedia to enhance human learning?" (Mayer, 2009, p. 13), the Lectora website promotes active learning by providing opportunities to do something meaningful. These demos, tutorials and free trails offer opportunities for both cognitive and behavioral activity.
