"Using Technology to Motivate Middle School Students
Middle school students are motivated by experiential learning activities. Effective technology-based activities require students to do more than look up information; they require students to "do" something with it."
This is a great site that can be used for various age groups and any subject! The short animated videos teach students about a topic and then they can do an activity, take a quiz, complete a worksheet, etc. to go along with it. My 6th graders LOVE it!
I'm a guy, so I've refused to actually join this website; however, it's a much more visually based social bookmarking site, which I really like. And I'm a big fan of the recipes my wife finds here.
Great if you want your students to do a project that allows them some freedom/creativity, yet it can be on a certain topic. You can make them yourself as a bell ringer as the kids come in the door. Possibilities are endless!
A great site to look for new apps concerning education. Especially at the middle school level. They seem so hard to find! A site like this saves me hours of searching!
I really like this site for blogging in the classroom - especially if the students are younger or new to blogging. Students can respond to a blog post/question you give to the class, the blogs are private to only your class, and you can preview all posts before they are published for others to see.
I love using this site with my students. I have used it as a bellringer by having students try to figure out the theme of the wordle when they come into class, exit slip to review what students learned in a lesson, or have students create their own as part of an assignment/project!
Good idea!
We used it last year to describe what we learned about pumpkins.
We also used it to create a design for our school shirts!
ordle is a toy for generating
“word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds
give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently
in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different
fonts, layouts, and color schemes.
The images you create with Wordle are yours
to use however you like. You can print them out,
We've used this site along with Google Translate to create our shirts and cake design for our ELL Family Nights...they turned out GREAT! We heard so many good comments on the design.
This website has excellent resources for early childhood teachers for use with interactive whiteboards. Since the interactice whiteboard file is already created, teachers can focus on the implementation of the lesson.
