Following on from my last feel-good link 'Stop Disaster' I received a response from a post I put up about the game at my blog - http://abcreative.posterous.com
Melanie, the Manager - School Education, National Security Capability Development Division, Attorney General's Department came across the post and shared this link with me.
'Dingo Creek - the disaster' and 'Dingo Creek - The Recovery' immerses students in an emergency management situation and gets them to make decisions will change the course of the game. The great thing this has been developed for Australian students. There are also offline units and lesson resources to download from the site.
Another great resource for incorporating games / simulations effectively into the curriculum.
Martin Dougiamas (@moodler) and Tomaz Lasic (@lasic) hosted a quick demo and call to action for the Mt. Orange School demo site right before Christmas. As a follow up Tomaz has provided the presentation recording in Elluminate, his slide notes and the full presentation from that day http://www.twitlonger.com/show/7m04ig.
The presentation focused on providing an overview of what was currently possible with the Mt. Orange School, Moodle's new demonstration site where you can get a feel for what's possible with Moodle 2.0 and well trained teaching staff. In additional Tomaz explained that the school site in its entirety is available for download so that users can dive in deeper and play with the settings and features without affecting the live site or causing undue administration.
The presentation recording is about 1 hour and the Google Docs presentation has a wealth of information included in it's speakers notes. Be sure to check out both if you're considering Moodle 2.0 this year.

Reeder is a Google Reader client, which means you need a Google Reader account to use the app. Don't have one? No problem, you can get one here:
http://google.com/reader
When using Reeder, all changes will be synced with Google Reader. This means if (for example) you read an article in Reeder it will also be marked as read in Google Reader. The same is true if you read in Google Reader. When syncing the next time, Reeder will just pick up the changes.
"This app uses the new built in speech feature in chrome 11+ to create a useful powerful tool to use voice to do the normal typing jobs . The app is essentially an in the browser speech recognizer using which you can dictate sentences , edit the output and add them together to form paragraphs. This app is best used along with Voice In chrome extension [ also developed by me ]. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/gjkogfbjkfchelfjonefnnenhfgglpnn Please Note : Speech Recognition is a statistical model . You cant expect a 100% accuracy rate . But not to worry recognition is rate is good enough to use :) I'd appreciate if you'd rate it with ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ and tell your friends! :-) "

"Over the last few months, Facebook has launched several initiatives and features to help you keep your account and data secure. Back in May, the company revealed it was switching over to the secure HTTPS protocol and announced details of its login approvals feature.
Facebook has also teamed up with Web of Trust to help protect you from scam websites and recently added its social reporting tool to its mobile website. In addition, the company has launched a bug bounty program that rewards security researchers for finding flaws in the social network's security systems.
To help you understand the social network's security features and how to protect your account, a Guide To Facebook Security has been launched. The guide, which you can download from Facebook, is 14 pages long and offers all kinds of tips on how to protect your account, including how to spot and avoid scam apps and clickjacking."
