Rosenberg's Senate Testimony - Business Insider - 0 views

  •
This whole article is just a review of what was said by an economist. The part I found especially important is towards the end of the first page, where he talks about how aggregate supply is sometime undervalued. The Commerce Department generally does not report on the aggregate supply, but rather they focus on aggregate demand. For the aggregate supply. the work actually needs to get done for it to happen. The work being labour and productivity.

Theis article talks about how Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke believes aggregate demand, not supply, is the reason of economic restraint and unemployment. For aggregate supply, economic activity, and GDP to increase, he believes that aggregate demands need to increase as well for the unemployed to produce these effects.

Supply side economic policies would end the Obama Depression - 1 views

  •
This an interesting article about the economic happenings from the Great Recession to the present day. It explains how the US economy progressed through and after the recession through the use of fiscal and monetary policies. However, these "policies" did not seem to efficiently help in the recovery of economic growth. Issuing higher taxes (for the so-called sake of increasing government revenue) on both the demand side and the supply side caused further damage to economic recovery and unemployment.

Coffe supply and demand conflicts - 0 views

  •
It is an easy example of how supply and demand work...
  •
This article talks about how the demand of the imported coffee is staying the same (same price) while the supply is dropping due to weather conditions. Suppliers want the price to fall on the coffe to simulate more demand and help with the lower pay they are getting for their roast. This relates closely to my blog post about the decrease of exported coffee from India.

Supply And Demand Boosting Home Resales | ChicagoTribune - 0 views

  •
This article discusses the scarcity of land supply in Chicago and the resulting shift towards home reselling. It explains that, since the scarcity of land has greatly upped the price of constructing new homes, home reselling has consistently and overwhelmingly exceeded new house construction. It also discusses that it was more cost efficient to buy the house, completely demolish it, and rebuild the it on the property than build a new one somewhere else, which provides an example of the sheer effect scarcity has on price.

Oil supply in Syria falling - 0 views

  •
The expected decrease in supply of oil is to be at 120,000 barrels a day falling to 90,000. The result of this is higher prices on oil will affect many markets and maybe even have a small impact on the global market for exports. Syria is reported to have the highest decrease in supply this year.

BBC News - Food price crisis: What crisis? - 3 views

  •
Due to extreme weather changes, droughts and floods are causing bad harvest all around the world. This causes corn and wheat supply to decrease and food prices to increase. Food however has a very inelastic demand. Food is a necessity and therefore people are willing to purchase it at higher prices.
