As Shell tries to raise $15 billion in asset sales, Paul French examines the offshore activity that will help bring the company back into favour with investors The year didn't start well for Royal Dutch Shell.

The future of the world's largest offshore wind farm and a symbol of Britain's renewable energy future was thrown into doubt last night after it emerged that Shell was backing out of the project and indicated it would prefer to invest in more lucrative oil schemes.

That means a passive house can be warmed not only by the sun, but also by the heat from appliances and even from occupants' bodies. While consumers overwhelmingly say they want plug-in cars, consumers will have to be educated on the differences between them and gas-burning cars, says Debra Reed, CEO of San Diego Gas & Electric, which will take delivery of 10 to 15 all-electrics Nissan when they come out next year. Nissan and SDG&E showed off a "mule" of Nissan's electric commuter today. The functioning vehicle sports the same basic motor and other electronics that will come with the production all-electric cars, said a Nissan spokeswoman. However, it is housed in the shell of an existing car.

Malikai oilfield is located approximately 100km off the coast of Sabah, Malaysia, in water depths of up to 500m within Block G of the South China Sea. It is Malaysia's third deepwater project after the Kikeh and Gumusut Kakap projects. Shell (the operator) and ConocoPhillips hold 35% interest each in the development, while Petronas Carigali owns the remaining 30% interest.

The Gaza Power Plant exploded into flames on 29th July. It is believed to have been hit by multiple shells fired by an Israeli tank, though Israel have yet to accept responsibility for it.
