My daughter's 5th Grade class used edmodo. I loved it because I joined them and was able to see what the class was doing and how my child interacted with her peers and teacher.  I recommend edmodo to grade school teachers and encourage parents to join their children's classrooms.  It is such a good way to be involved in your children's education.

Glogsteredu is a free product that allows students to make digital poster instead of classic cardboard. Extremely engaging for students.  Unlike cardboard, the images, words, sound clips, video act as a portal to take the viewing to more information. So if I click on an author's image, might see a video of her talking about a book, or a list of other works, etc.
