Intranet, Group Calendar, Small Business Organizer: Backpack - 0 views

  • Share information with your team. Keep your documents, discussions, and schedules in one place all the time.
Backpackit is very helpful for adults managing projects in an organization but it would  also be very helpful for students working on group projects at school.  My school's program emphasizes group projects and work and I recommended this program to our Media Specialist as a possible purchase for next year to help students manage all their work.

Our media specialist recommended this site. I have just started playing around with it and have been impressed with how well it will fit into my AP class where students are constantly working together on group assignments but cannot always meet afterschool. I'll keep you posted as I really start using it.
Create your own online binder to hold multimedia and media-rich content, websites, electronic files all in an organized system that is ready to share at any time. Awesome tool for teachers and students.

Kim Given - free web application for brainstorming online - 1 views

I've been using this tool with students in place of our Inspiration software. While is not as sophisticated as Inspiration (no conversion to outline form, no educational templates), it is quick and easy to use. Webs can be shared with teacher and/or other students as view only or with full editing rights. My kids really seem to like it because it runs faster, seems easier to put together and they can work on it from home.

I use as a brainstorming activity with my students. It is amazing to see what they come up with and they all give positive feedback about the site!
A quick and easy website to organize thoughts into a mind-map or a symantec web. The site uses Flash to create "bubbles" of information that are connected to each other to show relationships. Mind-maps can be shared to allow for collaboration with peers. It's a great way to brainstorm your ideas and plan your thoughts

this is a young company, only around since march of 2008. very promising technology. rough edges, but very intuitive.
  • Don't like to sign up for stuff? No worries! You don't need an account to use Twiddla - and neither does anybody else. The people you invite to meetings will never see so much as a login screen. You've got work to do. We'll stay out of your way.
This is a very impressive tool. It makes a good first impression I've been 'twiddlin' in the sandbox and it's a great interface. I like it, twiddla has many of the meeting room features you look for in eluminate or dimdim. The interface is less complex and more intuitive. I entered the sandbox and experimented with the tools. I was able to upload one of our ppt, which was converted to ipaper on the fly. I also embedded a youtube video, a jpg, and a few other things. Very promising. There is a browse feature that doesn't seem to be responding in the demo. This is the essential path way for sharing (and marking up) webpages. I'll try again later. Also, when I hit it with powerpoints things bog down a bit. This is a flash based system and I can resize the environment using browser zoom commands, a nice feature for tired eyes. They've done a lot to streamline the login process. So, on first pass I'm very impressed with this tool. I'll set up an account and delve more deeply. I'll blog about it too!
Twiddla is a no-setup, web-based meeting playground. Mark up websites, graphics, and photos, or start brainstorming on a blank canvas. Browse the web with your friends or make that conference call more productive than ever. No plug-ins, downloads, or firewall voodoo - it's all here, ready to go when you are.
