Que serait Internet sans les hackers ? Voici un reportage instructif dans la vaste communauté des hackers. D'un côté, il y a les "blacks hats" (chapeaux noirs), les délinquants virtuels attirés par l'appât du gain ; au milieu, les "grey hat" (chapeaux gris) qui aide les utilisateurs, et à l'opposer les "white hats" (chapeaux blancs) ou pirates bienveillants qui aident les entreprises. 

"After weeks of investigation, volunteer editors on English Wikipedia announced today that they blocked 381 user accounts for "black hat" editing.[1] The accounts were engaged in undisclosed paid advocacy-the practice of accepting or charging money to promote external interests on Wikipedia without revealing their affiliation, in violation of Wikimedia's Terms of Use. The editors issued these blocks as part of their commitment to ensuring Wikipedia is an accurate, reliable, and neutral knowledge resource for everyone."

Un white hat (en français : " chapeau blanc ") est un hacker éthique ou un expert en sécurité informatique qui réalise des tests d'intrusion et d'autres méthodes de test afin d'assurer la sécurité des systèmes d'information d'une organisation. Par définition, les " white hats " avertissent les auteurs lors de la découverte de vulnérabilités.
