This is a wonderful site! Not only will this be good for educators, but good for parents and kids who love to write! The 3rd grade class I work in has a couple of incredibly strong and imaginative writers. I'm sure that when I show this site to them, they'll want to compose their own "visual stories" right a way! I'm so excited!!!
As I was researching ideas for my course's group project, I knew that I wanted to find articles, ideas, etc. that children can relate to. This first site I thought was a cool play on the social media platform, Facebook:
Although the group project component of this course won't be taught to an actual classroom, these links do give me ideas for when I have my own classroom.
Ooh, considering how much I LOVE Venn diagrams, I've decided to bookmark this. Thanks for posting this link, Tara! I'm also going to share this with the 3rd grade teacher I work with. I had suggested to her that we use Venn diagrams as way of teaching "compare and contrast" with the students, even suggesting that I teach it to them, but it was to no avail. Venn diagrams are a good way of seeing the bigger picture of texts and concepts. Especially when posed to discuss 2 or more things, such as articles (as my students had to learn how to do for PARCC testing), they provide a visual perspective and organized method of presenting their work.
