This is a clip from the GOP debate last month. Many people watched this debate both republican and democrat. This is a moment where Carson and Trump appealed to voters who are against or unsure about vaccinations, and because of that this is an example of Narrowcasting.

Announcing the Surrender of Japan (September 1, 1945)-Miller Center - 0 views

  •
I could not find a video. This is a Transcript of President Harry S. Truman's opening speech before a conference in San Francisco announcing the surrender of japan, and focusing on Truman's acceptance of a peace treaty that officially ended America's Occupation in Japan after WWII. It was a pivotal moment in American Broadcasting . It was the first transcontinental television broadcast. Meaning it was the first time a television program was broadcast from coast to coast.

WikiComMedia - Narrowcasting - 0 views

Cable television is a Great example of Narrowcasting because people only see the channels they pay for, and many channels are aimed towards people with particular interests, opinions or preferences. Fox News and CNN are channels aimed towards news. You could go even further and talk about each of those channels appealing to a certain kind of person. Fox news appeals to more conservative viewers, where CNN has more Liberal Viewers. You also have ESPN, Home and Garden, History Channel, Food network and Comedy Central. All aimed towards a certain group of people.

I think it is important to identify the distinct differences between Narrowcasting and Broadcasting, as well as when each one can be useful. This is a very helpful website.

Those were really interesting numbers. That fact that because people are fearing there is strain or potential strain on religious freedoms, more people (particularly the younger generations) are being more open about being religious. And its expected more people will be more public about heir faith, This was proven with Kim Davis. During and After the hearing there was an uproar up people fighting for her religious right to deny that marriage
license. Despite the fact that before this it was all about marriage equality.

I had never considered high minimum requirement for TOFEL as racist until reading this. Especially Eleanor's comment. There is an obvious gap in test scores between racial demographics, and it really isn't right to deny those who aspire to be better certain opportunities because there scores are lower. There is also a gap between white people and other groups in america holding teaching positions. If the "rigorous acceptance criteria" remains so high that gap will never be bridged.

A hearing for the "Equal Rights Amendment"- Gloria Steinem - 0 views

  •
The hearing offers a look into the 1970's when woman were for fighting for the ERA. Many woman were opposed fearing it might take away certain privileges woman had fought for in the past, or that it might damage the family. Some of Steinem's arguments for the ERA are very interesting. I would have never thought to make some of the point she made.

LGBT Equality & Civil Rights - U.S. Representative Jared Polis - 0 views

  •
I found this interesting. Today in equality we have approached a subject that 50 years ago would have been avoided. Today it is a known fact that the people in the LGBT community are being discriminated against, and are lacking certain civil rights. This article discusses the importance of changing this, as well as what is already being done.
