[UPDATED] Breaking down Berman, Sherman spending | Berman v. Sherman - 0 views

  •
In political campaigns, how and when a strategist chooses to spend money can mean the difference between winning and losing. In the San Fernando Valley race this year between Congressional Representatives Howard Berman and Brad Sherman, the candidates' campaigns spent astronomical sums - a combined $11.7 million, breaking the previous record for most spent by two Congressional candidates on a single campaign in California, with an additional $4.5 million spent by outside groups.

Something that I came to mind when reading this if we completely eliminate broadcasting will it create a bias between interests or the types of shows shown? Just something to think about.

Wow. How perfect is the article seeing we are all seniors applying for college. This reminded me of RISD's (Rhode Island School of Design's) admissions. The score an international student must get on a TOEFL exam to go to RISD is a 105. The reason they do this is to eliminate any students who struggle with english. Now, coming from an international school I would think that hurts the student body more than help. What about the international students who receive really high SAT or ACT scores? Shouldn't that be enough? In fact many international student will not apply to certain schools because the TOEFL requirement is so high. Standardized testing amiright folks?

This article interests me because it talks about Middle Easterners in America and if you browse around the site you will find an entire page of cases that the article talks about.

A Closer Look At The Federal Government's Role In Civil Rights Cases - 3 views

I always find that the best way to learn content is applying it to more recent news. I think this is a great article in the sense that it brings more recent news, slightly older cases, and information from the civil rights period (which the chapter talks quite a bit about).
