Agreed, this site is most useful for a quick overview on many topics without having to read through masses of information.

This is a good site to locate research studies not always found in the psychology textbooks. It offers students variety in how they defend their positions.

Hi Marcus, I start the year off with note taking and get students to research the research on using technology over hand written notes. Not that long ago, academicians were often cautious about airing the ethical dilemmas they faced in their research and academic work, but that environment is changing today. Psychologists in academe are more likely to seek out the advice of their colleagues on issues ranging from supervising graduate students to how to handle sensitive research data, says George Mason University psychologist June Tangney, PhD.

Although it's quite lengthy, the APA site gives detailed explanations of the ethics that are required for psychological research. The information here serves as a good background to the ethics that come up in many of IAs that are students choose.

The American Psychological Association's Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct provides guidance for psychologists in professional, scientific and educational roles. The Ethics Code also outlines standards of professional conduct for APA members and student affiliates.

Many professional organizations produce an ethical code of conduct. Violations of this code can result in the loss of license and professional membership. Exposing students to these codes helps them understand the seriousness and importance of ethical conduct.

After reading through this site, I believe that I am going to turn this into a lesson plan that I am going to use the first week of psychology each year. This would probably be useful for all my students, not just my psychology students.

Relates psychology to our everyday lives

Provides a look at psychology as a career in many different fields, such as research, consulting, diagnosing and teaching. I have found this site extremely useful over the years while working with both general and AP level students. I have my IB Psychology students subscribe to this publication.

This is useful as a fun source to get students interested in a topic before diving into it in depth.

Here is a site I've used as a school counselor to direct IBDP students to when dealing with stress. It can help them identify stressors, the good an bad things about stress and there are helpful resources (goal setting worksheets, journals etc) to help in the management of stress. May be a helpful site to direct students to when covering Stressors when teaching about Health Psychology. It provides a practical application to what is being covered.

On this website, Psychology students are able to find a large variety of up-to-date articles that students might find interesting.

Good for a general read

For a bit of everything... Again, articles are not always comprehensive, but they may serve as good conversations-starters! A very detailed search menu is helpful to find something relevant for your class discussion topic.

Free Psychology E-Book....If you like students to be prepared before they come to class, and do not have enough money for resources like textbooks. Then here is a free online textbook for your class. The only thing is students must have access to a computer and wifi. Or, you can print the pages needed for an assignment.

Interesting blog that looks at the importance of specific ethical rules. Very helpful for students, since it is written by a university student.

In teaching about psychological disorders, students typically learn to recognize times when self-friend-colleague needs help, but can be uncertain how to actually make a referral. Though designed for athletes, this can be effective for all. I find this website to be beneficial for various reasons. First of all, it is easily navigable and the interface is simple. Secondly, it has the learning outcomes listed for students. Third of all, students have access to many research studies that they can consult with, especially when looking at whether the research studies support or negate existing theory.

Everyone loves a good TED talk. Here are some fun ones HS students would enjoy about Developmental Psychology. I like that you can filter the videos by psychology sub-topic AND Student Level as well.

This website is very useful for students because it provides them with sample essays for each level of analysis. Students can model their essays on these, and identify areas of strength and weakness.
