Dooars Ecoviillege on 26 Nov 12Buxa Tiger reserve has once well known for dolomite mining, before it was declared as a National park in 1992. It has also received the title of being a tiger reserve in 1983. The park is located along the borders of Assam and Bhutan and is spread over an area of 745 sq km. It is the largest forest in the entire North Bengal with a huge population of tigers, just falling short in numbers to Sunderbans. There are many other animals that you can spot in the jungles of Buxa such as Indian bison, elephants, hynas, leopards and many more reptiles and mammals.
