Exactly why is this? And actually is what we're seeing today the same gift that motivated Jesus disciples at Pentecost?

The problem is then, for what reason could the gift of Speaking in Tongues have been reintroduced to the church after such a long absence. What possible purpose does it serve now that the church is set up in nearly every part of the planet?

Is what we are viewing in churches today the authentic present, or has Satan somehow had the oppertunity to integrate the Christian world and deceive them with a counterfeit of one of Gods gifts for their own purposes?
The Bible warns us that in the end times you will have an enormous outpouring of false miracles, signs and wonders that could deceive much of the Christian world. Mark 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
Many Christians are entirely oblivious to the fact that speaking in tongues is also used in many non-christian religions.
