Herbal Supplements for Sinusitis, Asthma, Chronic Rhinitis - 0 views

  •
Asthma is a chronic lung condition in which inflammation of the airways or bronchi, affects the way air enters and leaves the lungs, disorderly breathing. Asthma is an ancient Greek word meaning "panting or short drawn breath." It is the the majority troublesome of the respiratory diseases. It affect twice as many boys as girls in childhood; more girls than boys in teenage and in adulthood, the ratio becomes 1:1 males to females. People with asthma have extra sensitive or hyper receptive airways. The airways react by narrowing or obstruct when they become irritated. This makes it hard for the air to move in and out.

Vitamin K2 and coronary plaque - Wellsphere - 0 views

  •
The vitamin K2 story, though still preliminary, is becoming increasingly interesting from the perspective of CT heart score reduction. The origin of this concept came from some unexpected observations. One, the observation that osteoporosis (lack of bone calcium that leads to fractures) arises from deficiency of vitamin K2. Two, deficiency of K2 leads to unrestrained calcium deposition in animal models, leading to heart attack in just weeks.

Shedding Light on Vitamin D and Cancer - 0 views

  •
Vitamin D's days of obscurity seem pretty much over. Once just an afterthought to most people-relegated to the sides of milk cartons and the pages of medical texts-it's now on the cusp of becoming a full-fledged disease prevention star. Although vitamin D has long been known as an important factor in bone health, a quickly growing body of evidence now shows that it may also help lower the risk of cancer, heart disease, and even premature death.[1], [2] Not surprisingly, scientists and the public have started to take note, particularly of vitamin D's potential to protect against cancer

Low Vitamin D Hurts Teenagers' Hearts - 0 views

  •
March 11, 2009 -- Low vitamin D levels greatly increase a teenager's risk of diabetes and heart disease, Johns Hopkins researchers find. It is becoming clear that adults who get too little vitamin D are at higher risk for diabetes and heart disease. Now, it appears vitamin D levels also affect these risks earlier in life, say Johns Hopkins researchers Jared P. Reis, PhD, and colleagues.

Not enough vitamin D: Health consequences for Canadians -- Schwalfenberg 53 (5): 841 --... - 0 views

  •
Not enough vitamin D: health consequences for Canadians. Schwalfenberg G. Can Fam Physician. 2007 May;53(5):841-54. Review PMID: 17872747 Conclusion Low levels of VTD are considered a major public health problem in Canada, especially during the winter. Those with risk factors should be screened for low 25(OH)D levels and repletion therapy instituted if needed. Researchers have estimated that the oral dose of vitamin D3 to attain and maintain 25(OH)D levels >80 nmol/L is 2200 IU/d if baseline levels are 20 to 40 nmol/L, 1800 IU/d if levels are 40 to 60 nmol/L, and 1160 IU/d if levels are between 60 and 80 nmol/L.64 We need to ensure that patients have healthy blood levels of 25(OH)D to prevent levels of parathyroid hormone from rising and to maximize absorption of calcium, magnesium, and phosphate. Positive effects on bone are marginal at best unless patients consume at least 800 IU/d of VTD. The emerging and exciting role of the VTD receptor and the actions of VTD in maintaining health in other cell types have become more apparent during the last decade.

Here Is How a Fat Stomach Can Make You Insulin Resistant | The Diabetes Club - 0 views

  •
When you constantly eat more than you need or than you use, your body stores the extra calories as fat, mainly in your abdominal area. As a result, the fat cells become larger and larger until they reach a point where they don't allow any more fat to come in. And from here, everything starts going downhill.

Does Cholesterol Cause Coronary Vascular Disease? | The Diabetes Club - 0 views

  •
Cholesterol is found in every cell of our body. Without it, the body could not make hormones, vitamin D, or the membranes of the cells. In fact, cholesterol is so vital that if you ate none, your body will manufacture it. However, if you don't eat the nutrients your body needs to handle it, then cholesterol can become harmful.
