    The various types of parasitic infections number in the thousands and are an epidemic of biblical proportions in the United States and worldwide. However, the traditional medical community barely acknowledges the possibility of parasitic infection and will vehemently deny the assertion that parasites are the root cause of man's most common and fatal diseases such as cancer, liver disease, arthritis and heart disease. The fact that traditional medicine is incapable of detecting most infections, and possess little or no effective treatments, may have some bearing on this naive position. In addition to the multitude of naturally occurring parasitic infections, man has, in his infinite wisdom, found it necessary to unleash a full spectrum of engineered parasites (AIDS, helicobacter pylori, prions, MRSA and Morgellon's disease to name just a few) into the environment and an unsuspecting public.

    The development of a global economy has allowed us to enjoy wonderful foods from countries around the world. Unfortunately, because of this, we have also spread parasites globally. Parasites that were previously found only in developing countries are now common in developed nations and vice versa. Because our immune and digestive systems have been so severely compromised by the consumption of cooked food and the absorption of endless toxins, our bodies have little or no ability to resist pathogens.

    Now, unless you are extremely open-minded or have had previous exposure to this subject, you are probably saying to yourself, "There is no way I have parasites, particularly any type of worm." What is supporting this belief is that you do not "feel" any parasites or have any symptoms attributable to a parasitic infection. Parasites do not want their presence known. In fact, in most cases, parasites do not want to kill their host, even though this is the inevitable outcome. If you die, they die. The damage they inflict is often subtle and painless, but cumulative. The few noticeable symptoms that may manifest will be attributed to or diagnosed as a more mundane and accepted affliction such as cholecystitis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), indigestion, stomach cancer, insomnia, Alzheimer's, heart disease or liver disease. So before you completely dismiss the notion that you are currently a host for many different parasites of which tapeworms, round worms and flukes are the most common, please read the following illustration - it could save your life.

    The next time you have a salad at your favorite restaurant, whether it is a neighborhood diner, a Wendy's, or an upscale bistro, consider how the food made it to your table. Are you confident that everyone involved in the the harvesting, processing, transportation, warehousing and preparation of this food understood how parasitic infections are transmitted and did everything possible to prevent them? Do you really believe that none of the migrant workers, who do not have access to sanitary facilities in the fields and cannot wash their hands after defecating, infected the vegetables you are about to eat with round worms, tapeworms or flukes? Are you sure that the processing plant that rinsed the vegetables did not use water contaminated with salmonella, E. Coli or animal fecal matter containing worms? Do you really think that none of the distribution warehouses, where the produce was stored before arriving at the restaurant, were infested with disease-ridden rats, cockroaches and flies? Are you convinced that the prep cook, who just cut his finger and is unaware that he has Hepatitis C, did not spread the virus to the food? Are you sure that the waitress, who accidentally dropped some of the lettuce on the greasy, grimy floor, actually took the time to throw it out and get other lettuce? Can you honestly say that there are not thousands of other similar scenarios that would have resulted in the contamination of your food? Of the multitudes who handle the food you eat on a daily basis, do you really believe that even one of these people gave a single thought to the possibility of parasitic contamination, let alone do anything to prevent it?

    If you truly believe all of the above is impossible, that all the food you have eaten in your lifetime has been perfectly clean and that at this moment you do not have at least one parasitic infection that is inexorably leading to an unnecessarily abbreviated lifespan, then you my friend are on the wrong website! As disturbing as this example may have been, a similar review of the treatment and handling of any animal products (meat, poultry, dairy, etc) would be even more appalling. The potential for parasitic infection due to the abhorrent way animals are raised, slaughtered, and processed is significantly higher. The intent here is not to disparage people associated with the food industry or characterize anyone as being uncaring, thoughtless or reckless. Most of us have a peripheral awareness that parasites exist but due to misinformation from traditional health "experts," we are oblivious to the scope and pervasiveness of these life-threatening infections. We labor under the delusion that parasitic-borne illnesses only occur in third world economies encumbered by inadequate healthcare systems.

    Now there are two extremely important points to be gleaned from the restaurant illustration. First, do not eat at restaurants! But more importantly, realize that all food purchased at every grocery store has been exposed to parasites to the same extent and cooked, prepared or processed foods are not exempt from parasitic contamination. The only difference between store bought food and restaurant food is that you will have the opportunity and ability to remediate store bought food, thereby eliminating the parasites, toxins and other contaminates contained therein. Remediation, however, does not mean simply rinsing meat and produce. Most parasites cannot be washed away or destroyed when cooked and neither method is even an option when it comes to prepared or processed food.
