Why might it be that our students struggle with independence? Maybe it comes from the language moves we make. As with the language of thinking, being deliberate with our choices can help us to create a classroom culture where students demonstrate independence and initiative.

I want my students to be sceptics. I believe that in the present age scepticism is more important than ever. Easy access to information, ease of publishing, scams and confidence tricksters combine to create a climate where blind trust is dangerous for our security, our finances and our knowledge bases. For students of all ages a healthy dose of scepticism is much needed not just so they may reveal falsehoods but to allow them to discover new truths.

Have students provide work via Google form and use an add-on to create mail merge response back to them. Each day submitted can be added to a different sheet.

Alice Keeler is currently working on this Google script that takes your student roster from sheet 1 and then creates individual sheets for each student. The spreadsheet can then be used to evaluate student submissions and provide them feedback.

Interesting post on ISTE.org regarding the integration of worksheets and Augmented Reality. I could really see this being a method teachers can check for student understanding by having the students create their own worksheets following this approach.

WizIQ is a downloadable software that integrates into MS PowerPoint. This blog post is a how-to on setting up the software and using it with PPT. I feel the ability to record/preview/re-record on each slide will be quite beneficial for students of all levels as well as those looking to learn a new language.
