Site lets teachers post a question online. Students then respond via webcam (no account required) and have their (moderated) comment added to a really great-looking video wall online. Site does cost $65 annually, but that includes 10 walls and virtually endless questions/responses.

Teacher's Visual Guide on Giving Audio Feedback to Students on Google Drive ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning - 17 views

  •
If you are not using Kaizena (formerly Voice Comments) to provide feedback to your students via GAFE. My students truly appreciate the audio along with the highlights pointing out the improvements. As a side note, be careful highlighting different locations as you record. When you go to highlight additional areas the audio recording will start over again.

One of my roles is to serve as the Network Coordinator and help facilitate the Internet filtering. Well, educators are awesome at finding value in tools that others may see as "entertainment". In this case, YouTube does provide a wealth of education resources and this list just touches on a few. Thanks to EdTechReview for compiling this list. Those of you reading my share please add any additional channels that are beneficial to educators in their comments feed.

SecretBuilders - 1 views

  •
via http://freetech4teachers.blogspot.com/2008/12/secret-builders-virtual-world-for-ages.html\n\nSecretBuilders is a virtual world for children 5 to 14 years old powered by a web 2.0 community of children, parents, educators, writers, artists and game developers. On SecretBuilders, children will explore virtual lands, undertake quests, play games, maintain a home, nurture a pet, and interact with their friends. Three features which form the backdrop for SecretBuilders distinguish it from other online worlds:\n\n * Children learn through immersing themselves in the stories, themes, and concepts from the best in literature, arts and humanities. They will interact with famous historical and fictional figures and be introduced to content and characters from world civilization and the great thoughts and ideas of human creativity. \n\n * Children will create this site, not just consume it. They are directly involved in creating this world with their ideas, critiques and contributions on virtually every aspect of the site and many of their ideas will be implemented!\n\n * Children publish their works - writings, art, videos - making SecretBuilders their own personal store of creativity. They can invite friends and family to view their works, and comment upon them. Seeing their works published and enjoyed by others instills tremendous for self-confidence as well as motivation to do more.\n

  • Comments and questions go into a private mailbox, where the user can ignore, delete or answer them. Only the answered ones are posted publicly — leading parents and guidance counselors to wonder why so many young people make public so many nasty Comments about their looks, friends and sexual habits.
