Called the "Iron Lady" of Asia, Park Geun-hye is the first woman president of the Republic of Korea. She is the daughter of former military strongman, Park Chung-hee, who held the highest political position in Korea for 18 years. Both of her parents were assassinated-her mother by a North Korean gun-man and her father by his very own staff. She was elected as GNP assemblywoman for Dalseong, Daegu in 1998 and its Emergency Committee's chairwoman in 2011.
