I own a Promethean Board, but I've never been too attached to the software. I'm also surprised at how little the Promethean software has actually changed in the past 4 years since I started using mine. The ActivInspire software that I currently tried out with my Mac left me wanting. Since the Web seems to inspire so many intuitive and interesting tools, I often go to the Web and just use the layover tool to save what I'm doing on my board. When I'm doing something on the IWB, I want to be able to have students participate from their seat as well as the board. I'm also dismayed that there are so few ways for students to create products with an IWB. The Web has come to our rescue for creating content with IWB. Triptico is een site die mooie tools biedt voor gebruik op een digibord. Zo hebben ze woordmagneten, selectietools, een timer en nog een aantal andere handige tools. De site leek aan het eigen succes ten onder te gaan. Vanwege de vele bezoekers werd de site door de provider offline gezet. Men heeft er nu echter iets op bedacht namelijk een desktoptool. Je downloadt wat software en kunt de gereedschappen dan vervolgens gewoon vanaf je bureaublad oproepen.

Er zijn duizelingwekkend veel schoolborden met even zoveel software om als digitaal krijtje te gebruiken. Sommige software is gekoppeld aan een bepaald merk digibord. En dat is een slechte zaak, want je wilt je gemaakte notities in de toekomst ook op een ander bord kunnen gebruiken of met anderen uitwisselen. Leuk al die prachtige Flipcharts en Notebooks, maar als leerkracht wil je vrijheid in de gebruikte hulpmiddelen. Helaas ontbreekt het aan een goede, platformonafhankelijke standaard bij digiborden. Er bestaat wel speciale software die geschikt is voor meerdere borden, zoals Uniboard, C-tools, en lumi. Maar ja, dit is niet kosteloos en er is geen garantie dat deze software in de komende jaren doorontwikkeld wordt.\n
