Insomnia What You Know and What You Don't! - 0 views

  •
Most of you would know that insomnia is a sleep problem, and it causes difficulty in falling asleep and staying asleep for a reasonable amount of time. It also affects sleep quality, resulting in daytime inactivity. Most of the time, insomnia can become long-term. This long-term insomnia is called chronic insomnia. This type of insomnia is diagnosed when the patient has trouble sleeping, at least 3 to 4 days a week for at least one month. Acute insomnia or short-term insomnia is the most common type of insomnia that most people have today. As the name suggests, it is a short-term illness and lasts only for a few days or at most three to four weeks. Consult your doctor, get a proper check-up, explain all the problems including your sleep schedule. Initially, severe insomnia symptoms may not require adequate treatment. If a person feels tired and cannot perform his physical activities during the day, he should buy sleeping pills for a short time as per the prescription of his doctor or physician. If your symptoms are not under control, use cheap Temazepam 10 mg tablets available online. You can buy these insomnia pills online from Pharma Health Online.

Google Chrome is one of the most popular web browsers in the world. Although it is free, it doesn't mean that you are not allowed to add some extensions to your browser. The extension is only a software program that adds extra features and functionality to Google Chrome. For example, by installing an add-on you can use YouTube without leaving your site or see weather conditions for cities around the world. However, some extensions do not work well on their own: they need reviews from people who have used them before in order to improve quality and stability of their products. That's why we have created this blog post: to help you understand why you might need to buy Chrome Extension Reviews from us and how exactly it works!

MySpace Developer Platform Launching on February 5th - 0 views

  • MySpace has just announced that they will be launching their developer platform on February 5th. You can pre-register now by going to http://developer.myspace.com (requires login).
  • rom a technology perspective, Kapur says most of the specific details will be released on the 5th, but he did emphasize that the company has maintained an open relationship with widget developers, and wants them to be able to use data from MySpace in their applications, potentially including your friend’s list. With Facebook moving to allow developers to host applications on third-party sites and DataPortability continuing to gain traction, this seems like the only way to go.
  • Finally, Kapur told me that the MySpace Developer Program will support Google OpenSocial from day one. This may provide a much needed boost for OpenSocial, which has received criticism for offering very little in the way of tangible products since being announced.

How Much Data Do You Really Want Portable? - 0 views

  • I've been following the barrage of news regarding Data Portability with a mix of excitement and trepidation. I've been a proponent of OpenID, and regularly use services like PassPack to keep track of the ridiculous number of log-ins I seem to have accumulated. At the same time, I worry about what data is essentially mine, and what doesn't rightfully belong to me. I'm still not convinced that Robert Scoble owned the contact information for his 5000 "friends" on Facebook, and that is the facet of Data Portability that worries me, at least a little.
  • I'm finding that the more avenues I have to share my data online, the more I find myself wanting to pull what I already have out there back. I find it hard to imagine that I'm the only person who worries about the over-reaching umbrella of Google linking up to every other site who joins the Data Portability Workgroup and the sheer amount of amassed information any one entity could end up possessing about me.

Gulfnews: Making IDs portable on the web - 0 views

  • It is a frustrating fact of modern internet life. Users of websites such as Facebook and Google spend hours building up and maintaining friend lists and e-mail address books, but when it comes time to move such social information to another online service, they frequently find it impossible to get their data back out. Instead, they must start re-entering their personal details from scratch.
  • That may soon change. Over the past year, growing numbers of influential voices have been calling for the creation of common standards for "data portability" — a move that would enable widespread sharing of social information between websites.
  • Supporters of data portability admit that it is still early days. "There are millions of people involved [but] there are only a relatively small number of social networking sites that are exporting," says Berners-Lee.
  • ...1 more annotation...
  • Privacy is likely to be a key sticking point as companies attempt to convince users to trust them to broadcast their information to other websites. Members of the DataPortability Workgroup stress that any scheme would include controls to prevent sensitive personal information from being sent out without a user's permission.

Data Portability for your Social Media Profiles - 0 views

  • Robert Scobles ban from Facebook early this month brought up the discussion again about ownership of user data in social networks such as MySpace, Facebook and others, as well as about data portability. Robert Scoble did violate the terms of service agreement with Facebook; so much seems to be clear. What his actual motivations were for his actions are not so clear though. You can check out his version of the story at Computerworld and also 1938 Media's Loren Feldman's takes one and two on this incident as well.
  • It does not matter what the actual reasons were and what exactly happened, but one thing is clear, it brought attention to an issue that everybody who uses social networking sites is just all very familiar with. I for myself consider it a pain to rebuild profiles and connections from scratch at every social media site again and again. It takes time and as most others, is time the only commodity I have always a shortage of. Then I look at my profiles at the different sites and how they developed over time to realize that they are all looking pretty much the same, I even hooked up with the same people at all those different sites again.
  • Hello DataPortability.org It is actually looking very promising that this initiative will result into a standard that will be adopted by many social media sites. They are not going to reinvent the wheel and start creating something from scratch, but use and "mash-up" existing standards and initiative to create something new specifically aimed to solve the data portability problem.

How will DataPortability.org keep from being hijacked by Microsoft? - 0 views

  • Whenever Microsoft Corp. eschews an open standard (think the OpenDocument Format, aka ODF), it gets pilloried. Whenever it embraces one, as it will soon do with DataPortability.org, fears rise that Redmond will twist it to its own advantage, (think Java) or, failing that, sabotage it. (ActiveX) So is the nascent DataPortability.org group at such risk from Redmond? Not according to a source inside the group. "The DataPortability group is made up of many voices - individuals who are passionate about solving the problem," the source said. "Microsoft's voice is a welcome addition but it is not the only voice in the conversation and it does not have any special consideration."

Portable Contacts - 0 views

shared by Trent Adams on 22 Sep 08 - Cached
  • The vision for Portable Contacts has been around for a long time. Sites large and small share the goal of providing users a secure way to access their address books and friends lists without having to take their credentials or scrape their data. But only in recent weeks has it begun to feel that now is the right time to rally the community and the industry to work together to make this vision real by developing an open spec for exchange of contact info that everyone can embrace.

Online social networks | Everywhere and nowhere | Economist.com - 0 views

  • Historically, online media tend to start this way. The early services, such as CompuServe, Prodigy or AOL, began as “walled gardens” before they opened up to become websites. The early e-mail services could send messages only within their own walls (rather as Facebook's messaging does today). Instant-messaging, too, started closed, but is gradually opening up. In social networking, this evolution is just beginning. Parts of the industry are collaborating in a “data portability workgroup” to let people move their friend lists and other information around the web. Others are pushing OpenID, a plan to create a single, federated sign-on system that people can use across many sites.

Empowering Individuals Towards Collective Online Production | keithhopper.com - 0 views

  • Existing participatory systems are designed to separately invite online user contributions in one capacity, and to aggregate collective value in another, but few environments attempt to holistically address the production of useful outcomes by moving participation towards meaningful and intelligent results. This determined focus on how best to design participatory environments to solve problems is particularly relevant given the world’s abundance of complex and urgent problems to be addressed. Methods for solving them collectively online have only begun to be explored.

findmeon.org | opensn.org - 0 views

  • if you're familiar with XFN think of findmeon like this: findmeon can let your 'xfn rel="me"' items be anchored to a digital signature. you can then either publish the public key, so that everyone knows for sure that those xfn relations are legit and not spoofed-- or you can not publish the key and have multiple circles/networks of 'xfn rel="me"' documents which are only brought together when someone is provided with a shared public key.

Word Press, Data Portability, DISO and Social Networks - Profy.Com - 0 views

  • WordPress got into the social networking game by absorbing BuddyPress this month. BuddyPress is a WordPress plug in set that creates a social network out of a multiple user WordPress installation (WordPress MU). Adding BuddyPress to the WordPress family is a smart move on the part of WordPress to stay fresh and relevant.
  • In the meantime, people who have other, more valuable projects that have been ignored and fallen by the wayside in the great quest for something only the top ten percent of computer users want. One of the most vocal advocates for Data Portability is Chris Saad, the guy who brought us Particls - a great program. Or, it could be great, if his attention wasn't elsewhere, Twittering and blogging endlessly about Data Portability.

Taking the Next Step in Online Video Advertising - 0 views

  • My last column discussed the brand utility supported entertainment model in which content providers and marketers work upstream to create customized complimentary experiences. One option would be to align this model with the open standard objectives of DataPortability.org. Their mission: to gather "existing open standards into a blueprint for a social, open, remixable Web where your online identity, media, contacts and content can follow you wherever you go."
  • For brands and content creators, that means conversation would truly have to be initiated by the user. The user would own the data, and the brand content offering would have to be valuable enough to warrant an exchange. In essence, brand content would be bought with "data currency."
  • There are brand enthusiasts who participate in campaigns on an ongoing basis. Yet each time they return, these fans must register and sign-up for the full experience. If the brand were to embrace technologies such as OpenID, not only would it provide their fans access to cross-promotional properties around that campaign, it would also provide easy access to all future campaigns. And with future potential of data portability, people could take those experiences with them, introducing content to friends and hopefully igniting passionate new fans.
