History Tours - home - 0 views

"History Tours is a collaborative website that gives teachers access to pre-made Google Earth tours on various topics in American and World history. These tours provide an excellent backdrop for visual learning. They allow students to view people and places of historical importance while the teacher presents essential background knowledge. Teachers are encouraged to submit their own work or save a copy of the tours posted by the page organizers. There is also a discussion section where teachers can post ideas and/or provide feedback. Creating a history tour is an excellent example of a project-based assessment that promotes higher order thinking skills. All teacher and student generated tours can be considered for inclusion on the wikispace."

TwHistory - 1 views

"Welcome to TwHistory. We believe that history is filled with exciting stories. We also believe that these stories can be told through Twitter; through the people who lived and experienced them. We go through journals, diaries, letters, and other original sources to deliver the day-to-day lives of people who lived through some of histories most exciting times. We broadcast this information through Twitter, and feel this is a new and exciting approach to understanding history. Instead of reading about a month-long campaign in a few hours, you experience it over the course of a month in small 140 character 'Tweets'."

HSI: Historical Scene Investigation - 0 views

The Historical Scene Investigation Project (HSI) was designed for social studies teachers who need a strong pedagogical mechanism for bringing primary sources into their classroom. With the advent and accessibility of the internet, many libraries, universities and government agencies are housing their historical documents online. Simultaneously, there has been a push in K-12 history education to give students experiences that more closely resemble the work of a real historian.

HistoryWorld Timelines - 1 views

Time Search is a good general resource for history teachers and students. Simply enter a year, press "go" and you're shown a list of significant events that happened in that year. Scroll up or down the list to see events that happened early or late in the year. Time Search lists events that happened worldwide. You can select historical themes to narrow your list of events. You can also narrow results by selecting a region of the world. Next to each item in your events list you will see icons indicating availability of related images, quick text references, and map references. Not all icons appear for all events
