A great tool to help students create alphabet books and develop phonemic awareness.

Study Ladder is filled with free activities created by educators. The activities are categorized by content areas. Within the categories items are broken down by topic or grade level. It's a free resource, thousands of activities are available.

"The Graphic Map is designed to assist teachers and students in reading and writing activities. The organizer focuses on charting the high and low points related to a particular item or group of items, such as chapters in a book, amounts of money spent, events during a day, month, year, or life, or scenes in a play. The Graphic Map creates a graphic representation of these high and low points that displays related images and descriptions. Mathtrain.TV is a free educational "kids teaching kids" project from Mr. Marcos & his students at Lincoln Middle School in Santa Monica, CA. It provides student-created math video lessons all in one place.

This site has virtual fieldtrips that teachers can explore. There is also a link to create, add and edit your own virtual fieldtrips.

This is a step by step for teachers to show them how to create a classroom group in edmodo and how to add an app.

What is it like to work as a paleontologist? In Activity 1, students listen to or read an interview with paleontologist Paul Sereno, a National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence, to learn about his passion for science and his discovery of SuperCroc in sub-Saharan Africa. In Activity 2, students join a dig with paleontologist Mike Everhart to learn what happens when a scientist in the field suddenly discovers fossil remains. In the Closing Activity, students create a story or conduct an interview and present or record their work for an imaginary radio program.

Memorize.com is a new learning website that allows users to create their own study guides and then share them on the web. The free site assembles user-generated content in three formats -- flash cards, multiple choice, and visual learning diagrams. The topics range from traditional school subjects, such as history, languages, and geography, to less academic categories, such as food, billiards, and television. Users can follow other users and their pages and edit other users' pages to craete their own unique page.

Terminix has launched an educational website with insect lessons. The website is built around the character Harry, a praying mantis who guides visitors through resources for teachers and students. The educator center provides teachers with curriculum guides and lesson plans, created by entomologists at Audubon Insectarium and Terminix, that correlate with National Science Teacher Association standards.

This is a really great site. Users can create book lists of books you have read, want to read or are currently reading. You can connect with friends and family and see what everyone is reading and share your book reviews. It is free.

What a great tool for groups of people to network about what they are reading. One of my grad students shared this with me. She uses it for her gifted students. She is able to see what they have or are reading. She can also see what their goal is and what books are yet to be read from their goal. Free site. Users add their own book reviews.
