With the advent of the World Wide Web and the huge amount of information that is contained there, students need to be able to critically evaluate a Web page for authenticity, applicability, authorship, bias, and usability. The ability to critically evaluate information is an important skill in this information age.

The purpose of this resource is to provide "Just in Time" training through an online interface for K-12 educators based on the National Eductional Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T). These standards are the basic technology skills every educator should prossess. In the process, educators will develop their own skills and discuver what studetns need in order to meet the NETS for Students.

This site is really nice. Many of the things we talked about in the grad class are covered here but the really nice thing about this site is that it take the NETS-T that we used and makes a connection to Marzano's 9 (Classroom Instruction that Works) and 21 things. It is really interesting. On the home page check out the two downloads of 21things and Marzano. On the right if you click on any of those categories, tools that can be used are presented. This is definitely one you will want to save in your own diigo library.

site that provides lesson plans and other resources for teachers. I signed up and found some interesting lessons. There seems to be a lot to go through. On the home page you will see a quick video tutorial about the site that I recommend you check out.

You can see how the planets rotate, you can see the constellations, it is a great visual for teaching astronomy and for teaching about the planets and solar system.

Remember those "star charts" you had a kid, the ones where you earned stars for good behavior or doing your chores? Handipoints has taken the star chart concept and built a website on it. Here's how it works, parents (or teachers) create a list of items for their kids to do. The kids then check off each task as they do it. For each task or behavior goal completed the child earns points. When the child reaches their goal they can cash in their points toward playing the Handiland game. Parents/ teachers can also print the completed charts and provide offline rewards.

Pest World for Kids is a fun educational website for students in elementary school grades. Pest World for Kids has a great index of pests which includes information on what they look like, where they are found, and how to prevent pest infestations. The Pest World for Kids website has four fun educational games that students will enjoy playing as they learn about insects and rodents. In the teacher section of Pest World for Kids, teachers will find lesson plans to accompany the educational games.

Learn With Math Games is a site that I like because it offers online games as well as PDF templates for games that teachers and students can play in their classrooms. Learn With Math Games is organized by grade level and by mathematics topic.

Curiosity in the Classroom Discovery Education and Intel have teamed up to create this site. This is a program designed to guide teachers and students on a journey through life's biggest questions.

Soundjay is a collection of music and sound tracks that are free to use as long as you cite the Soundjay site and you are not allowed to post the sounds on any web site for others to download, link directly to individual sound files, or sell the sounds to anyone else. You can put them into your videos.

This is an excellent vocabulary website that offers hundreds of amazing games and activities to teacher vocabulary.

Great variety of games on this site to teach vocabulary. K-12 games. You just pick a game type on the main page and then you can pick a category on the left and you will see what is available by grade level.

Study Ladder is a great resource. There are content categories and within each category there are hundreds and hundreds of activities. Within in content areas activities may also be broken down into grade level. It's Free. Lots of learning activities to choose from. There is an ESL section under the English category.

cluemaster, a free subscription service for grades 5-12, offers a collection of hundreds of crossword puzzles, word searches, and othe rword games that can be pirnted from your browser. The 50 quizk crosswords and word searches are suitable for younger students, whereas the more challenging cryptic crosswords are suitable for high school students. Each word puzzle includes a printable answer sheet.

This web site, suitable for students in grades 4-12, conains a library with full versionsof dozens of classic children's books, including David copperfield, Grampa inOz, and Peter Rabbit, as well as a few rarities such as The Bashful Earthquake by Oliver Herford and The Marquis of Carabas, painted by Edmund Evans.
