Burden of College Loans on Graduates Grows - 0 views

  •
Student loans debt surpassed credit card debt for the first time ever in 2010. It is predicted that the debt will top a trillion dollars this year. In 2008 two-thirds of students who graduated with a bachelor's degree were in debt after school. The average amount of debt for students in college for the 2011 school year was $24,000. There have been many predictions that the debt will increase because of budget-slashing. Economists say "while debt may be a bad thing it is a healthy investment."

Age to buy cigarettes to get raised to 21 - 3 views

According to the University of Michigan's annual survey of the Nation's adolescents, in 2006, about one- fifth of U.S. seniors smoked monthly, down from more than one-third who did so in 1996. Signs in the most recent surveys indicate that smoking among younger teenagers might be on the rise. The cost of cigarettes, usually a strong predictor of a decline in teen smoking, continues to rise. Yet more than 40% of high school students today have tried smoking before they graduated. The only thing left to do is to raise the legal purchasing age to 21.

I don`t think it should be raised. Teens are still going to smoke.

Well you know today 12 year old children can simply get cigarettes with the slightest ease. So I really don't think its such a big deal, but if I was the Cigarette company I sure would be. Also Next where going to have to be 30 to drink and 26 as an official adult. FREEEEEEDOOOOMMMMM!!!!! lol

I think the price should be doubled, maybe even tripled. There are no benefits to smoking at all. Just a way for tough guys to waste money maybe. If the prices are raised, people will still buy them I know. But that just goes to show you how addicting they are. Better yet, the age should be changed to 21. Change both of those variables and you'll see a positive change in our citizens, thats my opinion though.
