Record Flooding Possible in Nation's Heartland - 0 views

    In the Midwest, it has potential of being a "historic flooding". Flooding in Kentucky and Missouri could eclipse records set in 1937. A levee in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, failed on Tuesday. People were asked to evacuate as soon as possible. Whereas in Bell City, Missouri when the levee failed, residence were said to be in no immediate danger.

    A compromised levee in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, failed Tuesday. This is forcing authorities to order more evacuations in the region. The levee failed in at least four locations along a two-mile stretch. he failure was expected to send flood waters from the Black River racing into a populated but rural area of Butler County. Police performed 59 water rescues Monday alone.

    I think river patrol or whoever takes care of the levees should most certainly watch over these levees more then they are. Obviously they aren't in the best shape anymore and should be fixed.

Children saved from flooded day care - 0 views

    At 9:30 am five children and one adult were inside the Love Alive Montessori day care inside Richwood Presbyterian church at 1070 when water started to pour in the back of the buliding. The teacher took all the children to the second floor of church until rescued. They were taken to McDonald's by county sheriff. Area known to flood but last time it flooed bad was in 1973. Several roads are closed and drivers are urged to avoid area.

Army Corps blows up levee to save town - 0 views

    The Army Corps has blown up a levee in Missouri to save a town. The levee released water and flooded 130,000 acres of land in order to save a town. They say this was necessary in order to save lives. The town that was saved was Cairo.

    It turned out to be a good thing because a town and people where saved and hopefully no one was hurt in the process.

    It's better the levee was ruined instead of Cairo.
