People say what happened in Japan isn't natural, yet its nothing but natural. What do you think when the Mammoths roamed the earth and the ice age happened. There was nothing they could do, and that leads me to the earthquake in Japan. Yes, it was high for normal numbers these days but the worlds axis rotating which is natural.

I think its awesome to see how countries come together at a time like this. This should make the United States feel better about themselves also. By helping others, it will give us a good impact and if we are in need of help someone will be there for us.
  •
Absolutely, Kristen. It is very devastating, too, and unfortunate. Most people don't realize that it is in every country's best interest to do so. In this day and age, our economies are much more interdependent and like throwing a pebble into the pond, there will be some ripple effects that will surface within our own economy as a result of the Japanese events.

Choppers douse reactors - 0 views

  •
Helicopters are being used for air support in japan to douse the nuclear reactors to keep the cool so they do not meltdown.
  •
I think that this is good. Japan is already in a horrible situation with the Tsunami and if they had a nuclear meltdown, it would just cause even more damage then what's going on now.
  •
Hopefully they can put it out so that there is no nuclear pollution on top of all of the devastation.

Iodine-131 was found in Colorado and Oregon by a monitor in Colorado. The trace amounts of radiation found is about 100,000 times less than the natural radiation we receive from the sun, so it really is no threat.

Radiation from Japan's earthquake was recently found in California,Hawaii,Washington,Colorado, and Oregon. They were only small levels but they could increase over time. Most studies are being done by the EPA. Air monitors are tracking these particles. The particle most recently found is iodine-131.

Pope calls for peace around the world in Easter message - 0 views

  •
During an annual Easter message Pope Benedict the XVI called peace in the Midwest and areas in Africa. The pope also urged the restoration of "peaceful coexistence" in Ivory Coast, where a political stalemate led to violence. The pope also said that young people of Western Nations should work together for a common good. He also said that the people of these nations should build a society where poverty is defeated. Finally, the pope hopes that the victims in Japan will find consolation and hope in the after math.

It would be nice if his ideas actually became true but they probably never will.
  •
People do need peace right now. There is so much fighting going on throughout the world that could be stopped.

Robot finds sauna-like conditions around damaged reactor - 0 views

A robot Japanese used found sauna-like conditions inside the reactor number 2 building at the Fukashima Daiichi power plant. The number two reactor has less radiation in it then the other reactors says the building owner. Reactor No. 2 is said to be leaking radioactive water. The water is filling the basement of the turbine plant and utility tunnels. The robot they used to go into the plant found temperatures up to 106F and humidity from 94-99 percent. The conditions were so bad that they fogged up the lenses of the probe's cameras, causing operators to get the robot out after only a few minutes, company officials said.

Robots are getting a lot smarter as the years go on. I wish I had one.
