As the first known sign­ing Deaf woman to receive a doc­tor­ate in phi­los­o­phy, Teresa Burke faced unique chal­lenges that she turned into unique oppor­tu­ni­ties. She grad­u­ated from UNM last week.

I found this site which talks about the summer and winter deafympics. I had no idea that they had their own olympics to participate in. There are over 4000 athletes from 77 countries that take place in these events. Just like the Olympics, deaflympics changes locations every year.
