I have been very intrigued by the thought of a flipped classroom (where students watch your lecture in the privacy of their own home and then come to class and work on homework and assignments) so I wanted to do little more research on the idea. This is a great article FOR flipped classrooms. There were 453 instructors who flipped their classrooms and 67 percent said they experienced increased test scores, 88 percent saw improved student attitudes and 99 percent said they would do it again. The flipped classroom allows for self-pacing and it helps students look up information they may have been scared to ask in class. This reminds me of when I was in college, if I read the chapter prior to my class I ALWAYS got more out of the lectures and homework than I did if I did not read. The flipped classroom allows for students to do their homework in class when the instructor is present so they can get help. In a flipped classroom instead of talking AT our students we are circulating and talking WITH them therefore, instructors have more one-on-one time with the students. What do you think of incorporating a flipped classroom? DISCUSSION: 1) Would you be willing to try a flipped classroom if your school would allow? Or, would you ask if you could try a flipped classroom? 2) I wonder if students would even watch the videos. In my daughter's school it seems most students aren't even doing their homework, do you think they would watch the videos before class? 3) Do you think the flipped classroom would be effective and: increase test scores, provide for improved student attitudes, improve student-teacher interaction, and allow students to learn at their own pace?

I think that this article does a straight forward job of addressing the need to bring social studies back into the core curriculum. The article says, although some may not agree, social sciences help to teach kids about who they are, where they've come from, and how to interact in public. Social sciences also teach our students how to be good citizens and what their rights are. Taking this away or diminishing its importance leads to apathy and illiteracy in terms of social and political economics. Lastly, the article states that a lot of kids may actually like social science and that there are jobs out their in the social science and economic fields and that turning away from social science in school could strongly deter those kids from pursuing those fields.

This instructor "literally" hung paint cans on her wall! She broke the common core into six "buckets" or categories and put paint sticks into each bucket with activities on them. Her goal is to make the "standards come alive and empower her students to become autonomous thinkers." Its worth the 10 minutes, it gives all instructors something to think about incorporating into their classroom!

As the article discusses the pros and cons to digital use, interesting perspectives are given. In conclusion the article determines that it's not if technology should be in the classroom, but more how much of it and when.

This is an article/website about all the types of assistive technology that can be integrated into the special education classroom. As well as explaining the benefits of having this technology with certain types of disabilities. It also includes a blog like section for teachers to comment on how certain technology does or does not work in their own classrooms.

I'm glad this article talked about assistive technology for students with disabilities and students who need challenged.

This is a 2013 article by M. Soobik from the Journal of Technology Education. It focuses on Technology Education teachers' opinions on the physical learning environment of Technology Education and compares and analyses the changes in the physical learning environment of Technology Education. The article found that the physical learning environment is important to the overall success of the students ability to learn and fully utilize modern technology.

This is really interesting how they researched the physical learning environment and its impact on technology.

In this article, the author is explaining the difference between technology being taught as course content, or as a teaching tool. He also discusses the role of technology in a math classroom. This article also discusses how it it difficult to integrate technology into a mathematics classroom.

Although the cost of an education has nearly tripled per student in the last 40 years, test scores have remained unchanged. There is an ed tech revolution happening in politics, teacher evaluations, and test scores. This article examines what this ed tech revolution will look like both in school and at home over the next 15 years.

The writer listed some great resources throughout the article. I'm curious to see if any of his predictions will come true.

This article talks about how iPads and other tablets are a learning tool for students with disabilities, not just for novelty. Students who have trouble communicating verbally can use apps to talk to peers, teachers and parents. It allows them to be more like their peers and can spark new friendships if used in the right way. It can be used in all classes, including Math and Science, allowing students to be more independent than they have ever been.

This is a Blog website about Dyslexia, I've been following it for about 3 months. The site has a lot of information about what dyslexia, is and what a person with dyslexia go through.

This article discusses the dangers of introducing technology to young children. The author looks at schools that are starting the use of technology in kindergarten. I also feel this is too young. There needs to be a personal connection made among students and the teacher. A screen doesn't provide this learning and interaction.

This article focuses on the affect that adventure learning (or distance learning) has on motivation and learning outcomes among middle school students. This technology forum provides them with opportunities to learn about world issues as they are happening while getting to experience them online through the use of Google maps, audio recordings, and daily emails directly from their teacher. The research from this article found positive correlations between adventure learning as a form of technology in the classroom and increased student motivation.

That is really exciting as more schools are using this technology.

The article discusses some barriers that teachers may face when integrating technology into their classroom. It then discusses some ways to overcome these barriers. Lastly, the article identifies several current knowledge gaps pertaining to the barriers and strategies of technology integration, and offers recommendations for future research.

In this article, the author reflects on some of the challenges he faced while trying to introduce technology into his classroom. He found that he and the students were becoming frustrated and disengaged during the process and technology ended up hindering the learning process. That all ended when the teacher found Google Apps.
