Lesson over spreadsheets....."On what day was I born?" - 0 views

  • On What Day Was I Born? Find What Day of the Week You Were Born On in Excel 2007

I like this because its fairly simple to use for a lesson. Students in the second grade need to take baby steps and this lesson is perfect for that. It lets you dive into Excel slowly to understand how to use a spreadsheet. This is perfect because I was one of those kids who had a hard time using spreadsheets

Dealing with student blogs at the end of the school year! | The Edublogger - 1 views

  • I want my students to be able to look back on the work they completed several or many years ago. Students are proud of their blogs and as such the blogs should be allowed to stay.

I agree with this statement. Now that I am about to start teaching I wish I would have saved more of my work that I did in school. In the past year I have been saving my work and I am very proud of the assignments that I have finished and done well on. I want to be able to look back at it and remember what was going on in my head at that time and what thoughts and concerns I had while doing that assignment. By saving and looking back on your blogs students will be able to do all of these things!

Tips On Blogging With Students | The Edublogger - 0 views

  • The feedback I have been getting from my students about our classroom blog has been excellent. Students enjoy making comments on the blog and some of the parents of these 17-18 year old students enjoy reading them. These students who need extra support and are often reluctant to put pen to paper are quite willing to post comments on the blog. Their fingers just fly over the keys. It’s amazing. They also like the fact that I put some security on the blog- first names only, no search engine access and moderated comments.

I've started to notice even in college that student's love to use the computer to put in their feedback to something. I think students love to type rather then pulling out a pencil and writing it down on paper. This is great for students because it allows them to do something different from the regular classroom. It allows them to use technology instead of the old fashion way of doing things! I love the fact that the this teacher has put some security on the blog because along with the students, teachers, and parents, we want everyone to feel safe when blogging.

  • The fact is that I am not used to letting students take ownership of their learning in this way.

This statement to me stands out. This is very true and I think teacher's have a hard time letting their students learn on their own. By blogging students are able to do this. They learn own their own what they are interested in instead of the teacher just telling them what to read and by doing this it allows the student to go further in the topic then what a teacher might go over in class.

This is a great citation generator. It gave me exactly what I needed. I would recommend this to people of 15 years and older. This website helps students understand what teachers are wanting when citing any kind of documents. The citation center is also very easy to use and I feel that just about anyone can figure out how to use this site in a matter of seconds. It gives you step by step to follow then conputes exactly what you need. This is a great citation generator to use!

A citation generator that is great for ages 15 and up. It is extremely easy to use and helps give students an idea of what teachers want when citing books.
