Apple - iPad 2 - From the App Store - Edit HD movies on iPad. - 0 views

  •
Back to Apps by Apple iMovie helps you turn the HD video you shoot on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch into a masterpiece worthy of the red carpet (or just the one in your living room). This fun, fast, feature-rich app is designed especially for Multi-Touch. iMovie allows students to combine still images (including screen shots, Keynote slides, photos, etc.), film clips, and audio (music, narration, etc.) on the iPad to create original films. iMovie provides multiple file sharing options, including options to export films into the Camera Role or into iTunes. Films can also be uploaded easily inot YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, and CNNiReport.

ABC App for iPad - 0 views

  •
Often times overlooked because of the popularity of the CNN app, the ABC app for iPad demands use. My SPED students LOVE the globe presentation of the news broken down by content. Wonderful presentation of the news for teens and should be a mainstay for app use.

My "Behind the Paws" student news crew uses this app heavily. Current events are presented for student reading in a clear, concise and visual matter that all students can understand. Moreover, the sharing to other apps such as the student Twitter account is helpful tool for sharing current events with their peers

Comic Touch Lite - Free iPad app - 7 views

  •
You can use pictures from your photo library or take pictures directly from the camera on the iPad and use them to create one frame comic strips. Can be used many different ways in the library and the classroom. Simple and fun to use.
  •
This app was easy to use and fun to do with students. A great way to harness their eagerness to take pictures if you have iPad 2s. When you take the photo students are given the choice to use the current photo or retake -- this helps avoid getting too many pictures that the don't want to use.
  •
Can be used to give a quick response to a book, lesson, etc. It can also be used to show students how emotion should match the words. "I'm so excited!" can be matched with a similar expression photo.

This app enables students to brainstorm on the iPad. Students can write, draw, color and use stickies to brainstorm anyway that you might need them to for projects. Students can share work and work on multiple iPads at the same time using a wifi connection. Super cool collaboration tool for your students!

Screen Chomp - Free iPad app for sharing - 1 views

  •
Users can create simple screencasts on the iPad using the simple doodle board and audio recording option. These videos can be shared easily via a URL, by posting on Twitter, or by downloading as a video MPEG-4 file. This tool can be used by teachers to model a task or by students to demonstrate mastery of a task.
  •
I have enjoyed using this app as well. An additional feature that I find useful is that students are able to take a screen shot from the Ipad or any picture that is in the camera roll and pull that in to use as the backdrop for their recording.

I wrote about using Screen Chomp on my blog: http://ipadsinthelibrary.wordpress.com/2012/03/03/try-screen-chomp/

Master Soft Chess - 0 views

  •
The Math teacher at my school has influenced a new group of students who love chess. The students have been so excited about playing chess that they requested a app be loaded onto the Library ipads. The Master Soft Chess app is a wonderful addition. It provides hints, history and overall is a good chess app to help support chess matches.

Kindle app for iPad - 0 views

The Kindle app is great for libraries and classroom use. Often times, Amazon will provide books either free or discounted cost and the app really helps ease the expense educators faced when providing reading materials. Students in the library especially like reading additional books from their favorite authors during the lunch periods.

Scrabble for iPad - 0 views

  •
I don't allow gaming during instructional time in my Library Media Center. To curb this, I allow students to use the Scrabble app as a educational gaming tool for use during the student's 'down time'. At first the students groan and complain but eventually they do enjoy the app and the challenge of identifying words that can be used to win the game with a partner.

Twitter for iPad - 0 views

  •
Yes, Twitter is a powerful educational tool that can be used with students. My students use Twitter as a promotional tool for their student news program and to share current event announcements. Please keep in mind, it is very important to have an initial lesson and ongoing conversations with your students about Cyber online behavior. Check it out for yourself - https://twitter.com/PhillipsHSBTP

This is app designed to draw and animate cartoons on the iPad. It has a huge color palette and is easy for students to use when drawing with fingers. You have the option of showing your previous slide and the next slide to enable your students to create their animation. You can also save your creations to your Photo Gallery. Fun, with many applications for the library and classroom.

Create a play with Puppet Pals - 1 views

  •
Students are able to create, direct, and act out their own stories using this app. I love how you can actually see the stage and the offstage. Students have been able to quickly teach themselves how to use the program with little direction from me. This one has been especially fun for two students to use with headphones and a splitter. I love watching them collaborate together to create a story.
  •
I wanted to come back and let you know that I was able to purchase the Puppet Pals Directors Pass. This app costs 2.99 per iPad (of course, I used the VPP and bought 32 copies for half price). Students can now download different backgroups and characters. The free one only uses the fairy tale set. They love mixing them up and making new stories. However, what I am really excited about and what made me want to spend the money on it -- the students can use the camera on the iPad 2 and take pictures to make their own characters and backgrounds. My idea is that they will take a picture of their traditional science fair board then they will the puppets that will talk about their science fair. Fun app!

Starfall for iPads - 0 views

This app is $2.99, but our young special needs students really enjoy it. It's nice to provide a familiar layout and program for our special needs preschoolers and kindergarteners to use. These students are often familiar with the website, but do better with the touch format of an iPad.

Voicethread - 2 views

  •
Voicethread for the iPad just arrived, and it's amazing! It allows students to create narrated slideshows. It also has many many options for hosting open discussions of media where invididuals "comment" in various formats (e.g. written, voice, video). Voicethread can upload a broad range of audio and visual format. The voicethread app is free. Free accounts allow for up to the "voicethreads" per user. I paid $60.00 this year to obtain a one-year classroom account with 50 student accounts which I can manage and supervise very efficiently.
  •
The VoiceThread app has exciting possibilities for students to present their research in a new way. My students used a combination of text slides created in Doodle Buddy and screen shots of images to create slide shows. They did voiceovers on top of the slide show and could even draw on the screen to point out the part of the diagram that they were referring to. One other exciting game-changer is that students can listen to another student's voicethread on their own ipad and then respond to it in text or record their own response. Then the student presenting (and teacher) can read and listen to the feedback. Some of these features are limited on the free version, like only 5 voice threads per account. There is more teacher control on the paid version as well. I'm definitely considering buying the full version.

LOVE IT!!! - Learn Spanish - MindSnacks - 0 views

  •
Try this: log onto this app, connect is to a projector and play one of the games with a group of 16 years....talk about fun. I used this app with my beginning Spanish classes at the beginning of the year to reinforce sight words taught in class. The students really enjoy this game, the competition, the stop clock and the whole group fun. Just try this app, you'll be hooked.
