CNN App for iPad - 0 views

  •
My "Behind the Paws" student news crew uses this app heavily. Current events are presented for student reading in a clear, concise and visual matter that all students can understand. Moreover, the sharing to other apps such as the student Twitter account is helpful tool for sharing current events with their peers

Twitter for iPad - 0 views

Yes, Twitter is a powerful educational tool that can be used with students. My students use Twitter as a promotional tool for their student news program and to share current event announcements. Please keep in mind, it is very important to have an initial lesson and ongoing conversations with your students about Cyber online behavior. Check it out for yourself - https://twitter.com/PhillipsHSBTP

Free Movie of the Day - Brain Pop - 1 views

Brain Pop Movie of the Day / Brain Pop Movie of the Day Espanol Students will enjoy these quick movies of the day clips. The movies that are currently shown as free are usually timely with current events or calendar events (example: Movie about Voting on Election Day). This app provides a great quick activity for students to use and if you get in the habit of checking it, you will find things that relate to your lessons. Brain Pop also offers this site in Spanish. Brian Pop itself is a company that offers subscriptions to their website full of educational activities. I am hopeful that they will get an app similar to Brain Pop, Jr. as I am huge fan of that site. As of now, you would need flash to access their site.

ABC App for iPad - 0 views

Often times overlooked because of the popularity of the CNN app, the ABC app for iPad demands use. My SPED students LOVE the globe presentation of the news broken down by content. Wonderful presentation of the news for teens and should be a mainstay for app use.

You can use pictures from your photo library or take pictures directly from the camera on the iPad and use them to create one frame comic strips. Can be used many different ways in the library and the classroom. Simple and fun to use.

This app was easy to use and fun to do with students. A great way to harness their eagerness to take pictures if you have iPad 2s. When you take the photo students are given the choice to use the current photo or retake -- this helps avoid getting too many pictures that the don't want to use.

Can be used to give a quick response to a book, lesson, etc. It can also be used to show students how emotion should match the words. "I'm so excited!" can be matched with a similar expression photo.
