Christian Unite is a website that started as a simple web directory. One glance at the home page and you will see how it has expanded into a website that has a searchable data base. On this site you can find games, blogs, sermons, song lyrics, and so much more. The section I am interested in is the kids section, the cartoon section, and for purposes of my class - the Clipart section. The clip art section has a wide variety of Christian clip art featuring pictures of Jesus, Bible characters, and other religious clip art. This section has a disclaimer which states, "Christian images here are free for your use on web sites, newsletters, church bulletins or anywhere else you can find them useful, however redistribution is prohibited. A link to http://clipart.christiansunite.com/ would be appreciated but not mandatory if you use any of these images on a web site." I also like this site not only because it is free, but you do not have to sign up.
In evaluating this resource, there are some aspects you should know. The clipart is divided into 34 categories which could be a problem for some using this resource. I say that because it takes awhile to search through the categories to find the perfect image you imagine. Being flexible in what you want can help mitigate this issue. The clip art can be adapted to any age group but I think that middle and high school would enjoy the images more than the small children. Hence, the reason for a time consuming search for the perfect image.
Almost all of the clipart on this website is either a jpeg or a gif so if you plan on using them on the web there should not be a problem. Also jpeg's and gif's are relatively small in size so it won't take up much space. However, keep in mind that each time you save a jpeg it will diminish in quality.
Overall, this can be a good repository to add to your collection. This website can be found at http://clipart.christiansunite.com/.
