Never feel lonely again... Know who else is on the site you're browsing. Might be cool on eBay to know who I'm bidding against :-)

Of persons, robots, aliens and humans - 0 views

"It is common parlance to equate the words 'person' with 'human'. That is perhaps because of all the creatures we know, we humans are those with the most obvious claim to personhood. But, what actually is a 'person'? We know that a person is a moral entity - someone, rather than something, but that just requires us to define a 'moral entity', so begs the question. This is a very vital question these days, as it relates to such issues as human embryo research, euthanasia, human genetic engineering and cloning, among others." (Human Enhancement and Biopolitics)

Educational Origami is a blog , and a wiki, about the integration of ICT into the classroom, this is one of the largest challenges that I feel we as teachers face. Its about 21st Century Learning and 21st Century Teaching. Marc Prensky coined the now popular and famous phrase "Digital natives and digital immigrants" in his two papers by the same name. Ian Jukes talks about Digital Children. The world is not as simple as saying teachers are digital immigrants and students digital natives. In fact people fit into both camps. We know that experience, like using a computer, will change the structure of our brain, This is a concept called Neuroplasticity. We also know that, the more intense the experience, the more profound the change. Our students, who often have a greater exposure to technology, are likely to be more neurologically adapted, but adults can as easily be "Digital Natives".

What Principals Must Know About Information Technology - 20 views

KUTZTOWN, Pennsylvania - They're being called the Kutztown 13 - a group of high schoolers charged with felonies for bypassing security with school-issued laptops, downloading forbidden internet goodies and using monitoring software to spy on district administrators. You must think of your building's digital information in the same manner that you consider the overall building security and tests being locked in the school safe. One analogy is: To know what 'digital doors' information is behind and who has the 'digital keys' to those doors.

Enterprise Efficiency - Pablo Valerio - Finally, Unbreakable Message Encryption - 1 views

  •
A new concept is starting to appear in encryption services for data and messaging: zero knowledge. Providers of such services claim that they do not know who you are, and that they never store the encryption key anywhere outside of your device. One such service from FoxyFone of Switzerland (a country famous for bank security and secrecy) is now available on the Apple App Store for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. The app, Foxygram, lets the user encrypt data on the device, including contacts, email, pictures, and video, with 256-bit AES security.

What We do not know ( Infographic ) - 10 views

"When it comes to history, science, and global affairs. Americans are notoriously uninformed. Too many of us shrug off our inability to" do math" or speak a second language. And in effect, we assume that these capacities are somehow dispensable, however they are not. Higher education in America is experiencing a similar misassumption......."

"With so many free and user friendly tech tools available for teachers, it's hard to know where to begin to put together a list of the best tools for teaching and learning so I decided to take a look at my own resources to determine which tools I use the most. Rather than posting another running list of tools, features and uses, I decided to present the information visually, through an interactive ThingLink graphic. I used the new colored nubbins available to make it easier for visitors to explore areas of interest more efficiently. "
