Use construction paper or low cost paints to design the box cover. Then have students fill it with items that have to do with their gallery. I used to use this as a way of having students create more interactive book reports/reviews. Students are much more interested in seeing and hearing about the contents of the box then they are of hearing recited book reports. It's also a great resource for school counselors. Students create gallery boxes about themselves, adding items about themselves. This also has the added benefit of giving shy students a prop to use to tell their story.
