Assistive Technology: IdeaPaint- Turning Any Surface into a Dry Erase Whiteboard - 0 views

  •
Giving students and teachers the opportunity to visualize ideas and concepts is one proven way to improve achievement in the classroom. While many classrooms now have whiteboards as well as interactive whiteboards there are still a large number of schools that still have traditional blackboards that long for the opportunity to have a whiteboard that they can put colored markers to. Replacing blackboards with whiteboards can be extremely expensive for schools when you take into account the labor and the price of good quality whiteboards. But what if there was a cost effective way for classrooms to transform their blackboards into whiteboards? In fact, there is a cost effective way to accomplish this using IdeaPaint- an easy to use dry erase paint that can be applied to almost any surface. In fact some teachers have used IdeaPaint to paint the walls as well as the top of student's desks. I had learned about IdeaPaint several years ago but was excited to see how educators in New Jersey were using this product in the classroom. IdeaPaint has a number of great videos on their website demonstrating how teachers across the US are using IdeaPaint in the classroom to make learning more interactive and more visually appealing.

15 More Apps To Create Books On The iPad - 0 views

  •
"Creating books on the iPad doesn't seem like the first thing you might do with one of the popular little tablets, but it's really quite capable of doing so provided you're not trying to write the next great novel. We've written about 3 apps to reate books on the iPad in the past, but the following listly by Meg Wilson goes further, including 15 apps to do so. The artful collision of technology, learning, and literacy is an idea promoted in the Common Core Standards, which is likely your rule book if you teach K-12 in an American public school. This is a new age of literacy where students can read, research, write, publish, and socialize on the same device sitting right in their lap with a pinch-and-zoom elegance that somehow makes the whole process seem easier than it really is. And for those of you that rail against both Common Core and the iPad (but obviously not literacy), keep fighting the good fight. 15 Literacy Apps To Create Books On The iPad"

Homeless in high school - The Boston Globe - 0 views

  • The number of high school students who become homeless after turning 18 has increased dramatically in recent years, far outpacing the few housing assistance programs available to them, say advocates for the homeless. Some youths leave home voluntarily to escape abusive situations, and others are forced out by parents or relatives. Youth advocates say economic hardship, family disputes, and, in some cases, the belief that children should support themselves at 18 lead some parents or guardians to push their children out.

  • Foster care and other state or federally funded programs do not include adult-age teens as part of their mandate, unless they receive assistance before they turn 18. Students tend to shun homeless shelters, which typically serve mostly adults, often those with mental-health or substance-abuse issues.

It's also one of the most trusted places to get honest and unbiased reviews on any business or product. TripAdvisor reviews can make or break your business, so it's important to know what they are, how they work and how they can help you improve your business. Can you buy a good review? You can buy a good review on TripAdvisor. But how does one tell if a review is fake? Fake reviews typically come from people with no connection to the establishment, who have never been there and don't know anything about it. This means they can write whatever they want in an attempt to get their name out there and increase their chances of being found by Google search engines (which often utilize algorithms based on such things). Buy TripAdvisor Reviews If you suspect that your hotel was reviewed by someone who has never visited it before or had any idea what they were talking about, read through the comments carefully-some users will make claims that don't match up with reality!
