I found it very interesting that this author argues that capitalism is just as much an agency for homogenization as the state would be. Obviously I have some major problems for this since the very basis of capitalism is to avoid it but I do think he has some valid points. Monopolizing industries is a perfect example of what he is talking about.

This is the most shocking and interesting aspect of foreign policy; that is how we choose our battles. The excuse that we had no idea what was happening really does not cut it but I do understand that many things are weighed out when making decsions like whether or not to get involved in other countries problems. I wonder how people make decisions to refrain from interviening and keep from the media mass genocides like this incident in Rwanda.

I don't agree anyone could make the statement that parents transmit it to thier children. I understand that where people live might transmit less opportunities but many parents move here and struggle to give their children a better life. They do everything they can in order to prevent their kids from struggling like they do.

I think that this is a great point as well. Having a mother that has worked in the health care system for the past 25 years I have been hearing for years about the impact of health care costs and how it affects this country. I think with this knowledge it is obvious that our health care system is in desperate need for a reform.
  • But that rule doesn’t hold for health care.

I do not think this is true in a large portion of impoverished areas. This situation, in my experience, may be more of an exeption.
