India agriculture crimes against women Mumbai

I learned that India has a rich history in agriculture, as Bronze Age farming technology has been found and a second century dam is still in use today. Currently, two thirds of the populace work in agriculture, but it only earns one fifth of the countries GDP. However, despite the relatively small profits, 43% of the land is used for agriculture and nearly a third is given to rice farms. Additionally, India is the largest producer of tea, jute, sugar cane, and cashews and is dependent on the season monsoons for rain.

In an article I read, it appears that not only is crime (especially against women) prevalent, but it is rising. In Mumbai, a city known for its safety, the rate of crimes, especially sexual offenses and rape, have been increasing over the years, due to a lack of attention to the country's youth and a small police force.
