  • I’ve been using FriendFeed for awhile and if you subscribe to my feed you’ll see just about everything that I do online. My feed includes all the articles I bookmark with delicious. When I write a new blog post it automatically shares it on my feed. Every time I tweet on Twitter and when I update my status on Facebook, they’re included here. When I add a video to my favorites on YouTube it is shared here as well. Currently there are 58 different sites that you can link to your FriendFeed, so it’s like the one stop shopping place for everything online!

Mathetics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - 0 views

  • His emphasis here is the use of mathematical knowledge without formal instruction, which he considers to be the central mathetic moral of the study. Papert states "The central epistemological moral is that we all used concrete forms of reasoning. The central mathetic moral is that in doing this we demonstrated we had learned to do something mathematical without instruction – and even despite having been taught to proceed differently" (p. 115).[1]
  • Papert's 1980 book, Mindstorms: Children, Computers, and Powerful Ideas, discusses the mathetic approach to learning. By using a mathetic approach, Papert feels that independent learning and creative thinking are being encouraged. The mathetic approach is a strong advocate of learning by doing. Many proponents of the mathetic approach feel that the best, and maybe the only, way to learn is by self discovery.

Mathetics - the science of learning, coined by John Amos Comenius who considered it the opposite of didactics, the science of teaching.  "Mathetics considers and uses findings of current interest from pedagogical psychology, neurophysiology and IT."
