Materialism makes miserable marriages - 0 views

We are very happy when we can satisfy sir/madam with our products Please find our products on the wedpage http://sexualhealthpro.com Materialism makes miserable marriages Couples who say they enjoy "having money and lots of things" scored worse on a whole range of relationship quality measures, according to a study by scholars at Brigham Young University. The new study, appearing in the Journal of Couple & Relationship Therapy, took in data from 1,734 married couples across the country. Each couple completed a relationship evaluation, part of which asked how much they value "having money and lots of things." Statistical analysis showed that couples who say money is not important to them score about 10 to 15 percent better on marriage stability and other measures of relationship quality. "Couples where both spouses are materialistic were worse off on nearly every measure we looked at," said study author Jason Carroll. "There is a pervasive pattern in the data of eroding communication, poor conflict resolution and low responsiveness to each other." In 20 percent of the couples in the study, both partners admitted a strong love of money. Though these couples were better off financially, say the researchers, money was often a bigger source of conflict for them. "How these couples perceive their finances seems to be more important to their marital health than their actual financial situation," Carroll noted. Interestingly, the findings also showed that materialistic couples' relationships were in poorer shape than couples who were mismatched and had just one materialist in the marriage. Perhaps the most surprising - and worrying - thing about the study was that materialism was only measured by self-evaluation.

Appearing in the journal Sex Roles, the study confirms that men are more preoccupied with sex than women are, but that relationships play an important role for both sexes in overcoming the traditional gender roles that society dictates.

Fertility Woes For Obese Couples - 0 views

  •
Fertility Woes For Obese Couples The journal Human Reproduction reports that if both partners in a couple are overweight, they will have to wait considerably longer before successfully conceiving a child. The findings, based on a Danish study of nearly 50,000 couples, show that if both partners were obese the chances of the couple having to wait for more than a year before the woman became pregnant were nearly three times higher than for a normal weight couple. If both partners were only overweight, the likelihood they would have to wait longer than a year was 1.4 times higher.

Obesity derails sexual quality of life - 1 views

  •
We are very happy when we can satisfy sir/madam with our products Please find our products on the wedpage http://sexualhealthpro.com/sexual-health.html Obesity derails sexual quality of life by George Atkinson Changes in hormone levels and diminished sexual quality of life among obese men are related to the degree of obesity, and both are improved dramatically after gastric bypass surgery, says a new study in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism. "Previous studies have found that obesity is correlated to lower sperm count and can be associated with infertility, but we wanted to know if obesity was biologically associated with an unsatisfying sex life, and if so, could it be reversible," said Dr. Ahmad Hammoud, the lead author of the study. "Our results show that the answer to both questions may be 'yes.'" For the study, the researchers followed 64 men over two years who participated in the Utah Obesity Study, which investigated the two-year morbidity of severely obese men undergoing gastric bypass surgery. The researchers measured weight, body mass index (BMI) and reproductive hormone levels of participants at the beginning of the study and then two years later. "In our study population, we found that lower testosterone levels and diminished ratings for sexual quality of life were correlated with increased BMI," said Dr. Hammoud. "Subjects who lost weight through bariatric surgery experienced a reduction in estradiol levels, an increase in testosterone levels and an increase in ratings of sexual quality of life." He also points out that results from this study highlight an association between sexual quality of life and hormonal measures independent from weight, so further studies will be required to determine a cause and effect relationship.
