The NSDL Middle School Portal is hosting this blog to help middle school math and science teachers find the best online resources on the web. These posts reflect the topics that are being searched for in the Middle School Portal site. We start each post with a rationale for the topic, typically connecting the topic to the national math or science standards. Each resource is hot-linked and accompanied by a brief description by which you can quickly judge whether it's a resource that is likely to be useful to you in your teaching.

CK-12's Middle School Math Grade 6 covers the fundamentals of fractions, decimals, and geometry. Also explored are units of measurement, graphing concepts, and strategies for utilizing the book's content in practical situations. Volume 1 includes the first 6 chapters.

These problems were created as part of the EUSES research studies about teaching students to use spreadsheets. They have proven very useful and helpful to students so we post them here for free use among teachers. Primarily these problems are of the level of middle to high school students and feature math concepts taught through the use of spreadsheets. The files used are available, you will need Microsoft Word and Excel.

Math Mutation is a short podcast for people of all ages, where we explore fun, interesting, or just plain wierd corners of mathematics that you probably didn't hear in school.

The module Teaching and Learning Mathematics in Diverse Classrooms is intended as a guide to teaching mathematics for in-service teachers in primary schools. It is informed by the inclusive education policy (Education White Paper 6 Special Needs Education, 2001) and supports teachers in dealing with the diversity of learners in South African classrooms.

CK-12 Foundation's Single Variable Calculus FlexBook introduces high school students to the topics covered in the Calculus AB course. Topics include: Limits, Derivatives, and Integration.
