Free online games and printable resources

Many of the participants in the UW-Stout E-Learning and Online Teaching Graduate Certificate Program use Google Sites to create their e-portfolios.  The portfolios are created and used throughout the program. During the practicum, when students become teachers by teaching in one of our graduate classes, they also refine and polish their portfolios. Ultimately the online portfolio becomes a job search tool that helps our graduates show a potential employer what they know.

The thing that worries most non-specialists teaching language is pronouncing words correctly from a book. This is where Forvo is is priceless. Native speaker users and the site itself have uploaded audio clips of word for us non native speakers to copy. The site has 250+ languages uploaded. The Educational Equity Center (EEC) at the Academy for Educational Development (AED) is using social networking to connect with United States (US) parents and educators about how to foster girls' interest in science and technology, and to communicate why that is important. Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), Science: It's a Girl Thing! is an early childhood science programme offering web-based resources detailing science-based activities for parents and children to do together at home, with supplementary how-to videos and discussions available online.
