"About Speak Up Speak Up is an annual national research project facilitated by Project Tomorrow. The purpose of the project is to: * Collect and report the unfiltered feedback from students, parents and teachers on key educational issues. * Use the data to stimulate local conversations. * Raise national awareness about the importance of including the viewpoints of students, parents, and teachers in the education dialogue. Quantitative survey results are available to participating schools and districts, online, free-of-charge, so that they can use the data for planning and community discussion. National findings are released through a variety of venues, including: a Congressional Briefing in Washington, DC, national and regional conferences, e-mail distribution, Project Tomorrow website, and our Speak Up partners. Local, state and national stakeholders report using Speak Up data to inform their new programs and policies. "

Polls can include multiple choice, yes/no, or true/false \nquestions, and they seamlessly integrate with the lesson you're teaching. \n\nStudents can connect to your presentation by joining an Interactive \nClassroom session that you create (note that your students will need a network \nconnection). Congress has authorized a new federal research center that will be charged with helping to develop innovative ways to use digital technology at schools and in universities. The National Center for Research in Advanced Information and Digital Technologies was included as part of the latest reauthorization Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader of the Higher Education Act, approved last month. President Bush signed the law on Aug. 14. The center will be charged with supporting research and development of new education technologies, including internet-based technologies. It will also help adapt techniques already widely used in other sectors, such as advertising and the military, to classroom instruction.

These resources for learning about genetics by the University of Utah's Genetic Science Learning Center include interactive visualizations, 3D animations and activities. Student activities include taking a "tour" of DNA, a chromosome or a protein, building a DNA molecule, or exploring the inside of a cell. The university is also building a sister site, Teach.Genetics, with print-and-go lesson plans and supplemental materials for some channels on the Learn.Genetics site.
