Good points. On Group bookmarks we have votes now. Will be adding more meaningful (ie. taken anti-spam into consideration) contribution attributes to reward user participation!

  • If you want to truly learn something, there is nothing like teaching it, so allowing, in fact encouraging, students to help one another solve problems, to teach each other, increases learning for both the helper and the helped.
  • A group can gain social capital by being proud of what it creates and getting positive feedback from other groups. A chance for students, whether working as individuals or in collaborative groups, to give feedback to each other is a valuable tool for creating a greater sense of community and engagement toward common goals.

eLearn: Feature Article - 0 views

  • The goal of the Semantic Web is to provide the capacity for computers to understand Web content that exists on systems and servers across the Internet, ultimately adding value to the content and opening rich new data, information, and knowledge frontiers.
  • In essence, the Semantic Web is a collection of standards, data structures, and software that make the online experience more detailed, intelligent, and in some cases, more intense.
  • In addition to the standards that govern the data and its structure, semantic technologies seek to define the framework and method of communication between systems.
  • ...6 more annotations...
  • This is a key component of the Semantic Web because IPAs will make the intelligent connections between content, mapping relationships, and alerting users and systems to content that previously would not have been identified, or if recognized, would have been discovered accidentally by searching or user recommendation. The Web will essentially be building correlations between defend types of learning interaction regardless of whether the user is online.
  • The potential of the Semantic Web could actually revolutionize the learning experience. Roger Schank, who helped found the Learning Center at Carnegie Mellon University, designed a new methodology that eliminates classes, tests, lectures, and even programs themselves.
  • Schank argues the most effective way to teach new skills is to put learners in the kinds of situations in which they need to use those skills, and to provide mentors who help learners as and when they need it. Effective learners come to understand when, why, and how they should use skills and knowledge. They receive key just-in-time lessons, in such a way that learners will most likely remember the information later when they need it. In a Semantic Web context, learning would be continuously invigorated with the obvious benefits being an increase in the quality of content and the sophistication of student interactions.
  • The prospect of applying semantic concepts to learning administration as well as direct pedagogy could offer benefits to the institution and the learner.
  • educational organizations should keep data secure while addressing issues around open access, though in principle the way would be clear to integrate systems across intranets and extranets.
  • Government agencies and lawmakers need to engender the broad necessity and the vision as well as provide adequate support and development mechanisms for those institutions and innovators wishing to further semantic applications within e-learning. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the learners and tutors must embrace the new opportunities and pedagogical frontiers that a web of meaning could ultimately deliver.

For those about to make a resolution - The Learner's Way - 3 views

  •
With the year rushing to a close, this seems like the right time to set goals for the year ahead. To pause and consider what next and make some personal promises.  The trouble is that the history of setting New Year Resolutions is littered with failures. It is so easy at this point  in time to make commitments for change and then just a few weeks later to have forgotten what they were.

Buy Yelp Reviews - 100% Real, Permanent, Reviews - 0 views

Purchase Yelp Reviews at the Lowest Price If you want to buy Yelp reviews, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, it's important to know that the best way to get the lowest price for your product or service is by buying from a trusted provider like us. We only offer real reviews from real customers who have purchased our services and can testify about what we offer. Second, if you're looking for high quality products or services at an affordable price then look no further than this website because we pride ourselves on delivering quality products or services with best customer service standards in the market today! Thirdly, fast delivery! You will receive your order within 24 hours after placing it online (if not earlier). What is Yelp and Why Are Yelp Reviews Important? Yelp is a social networking site for local businesses. The goal of Yelp is to help consumers find the best local businesses, but it also helps business owners understand what their customers think of them. If you're looking to use Yelp reviews in your marketing strategy, here are some tips: Make sure that your listing has at least 5 stars (5 stars = excellent) and 4 or more comments from real customers. This will increase the likelihood that other people will be able to see it and read about what others think about your business. Include photos and detailed information about each aspect of your product or service so people can easily get an idea of what they're getting before buying anything online through other websites like Amazon Prime where there's no guarantee that everything was done right unless someone has already tried out different products themselves first hand before making any final decisions on whether they want something specific enough based solely off pictures alone without having any firsthand experience first hand either way (i'm speaking purely hypothetically here). Is it safe to buy Yelp reviews? The answer is yes. You can buy Yelp reviews safely and legall

How to buy Yelp reviews You can buy Yelp reviews from a review site. This is the most common way that businesses do it, because you don't need to spend money on content creation or pay people to write it for you. You'll probably want to choose an agency that has access to a lot of Yelpers and knows how they work, so they can find the right ones for your business' needs. The best agencies have access not only to all the current Yelps in their network but also those who were recently active (and therefore likely active again soon) as well as past customers who have left positive feedback about their experience at your business location(s). Why buy from a review site? Why buy from a review site? They're real. You know that person who has been giving you bad advice? There is no way they would do so if they were doing it out of the goodness of their heart, right? Well, that same logic applies here. If someone is giving you a bad review without any other motivation than their own ego and reputation as an expert, then chances are that you won't be getting the best deal possible or getting anything at all! They're cheap. The cost of buying something online can vary depending on where you go and what kind of product or service it is-but one thing remains consistent: Amazon Prime memberships tend to be cheaper than non-membership prices (and not just because I'm biased). You can buy Yelp reviews. You can buy Yelp reviews. Real people: If you want to go with the tried-and-tested method of getting legitimate reviews from real people, there are plenty of sites that offer this service. Just make sure that you're buying from a trustworthy source (like us!) and not some fly-by-night operation that will take your money and run. Review sites: Some review sites allow their customers to purchase authentic customer testimonials from other users without having to leave the site itself; these are sometimes referred to as "review aggregators." Buy Yelp Reviews Introduction Yelp is the largest review site on the internet. It has over 400 million reviews and counting, and it's growing fast. You can find everything on Yelp: restaurants, shops, banks and even real estate agents! Most importantly though, you can buy Yelp reviews from RealServiceIT at the lowest price online! What is yelp? Yelp is a website that allows users to rate and review local businesses. It was founded in 2004 by two former PayPal employees, Jeremy Estoppel and Russel Simmons. The company has since grown into an American multinational corporation with more than 2 million reviews on its site alone, covering over 500 cities across the U.S., Canada and Mexico (and counting). Yelp claims to be the world's leading local guide for consumers looking for great local businesses at any point in time-from restaurants and coffee shops, pet services and dentists, garage sales or car repair services-to hotels & resorts; auto dealerships; beauty salons & spas; doctors offices & hospitals; mortgage companies etc.. Making the most of opportunities for thinking - The Learner's Way - 5 views

What should our goal for student thinking be? How do we scaffold student thinking in ways that are meaningful while developing autonomy and encouraging students to think effectively when we are not there? What would success with thinking strategies look like? These were the challenging questions that Mark Church presented to teachers at the most recent 'Cultures of Thinking Teach Meet' hosted by Masada College.

Change, culture and Cultural Change in Education - The Learner's Way - 6 views

  •
Embedded in the very weave of the organisation, culture is the most difficult aspect of an organisation to change and the hardest form of change to sustain 'That's because transforming a culture requires influencing people's deepest beliefs and most habitual behaviours' (Rogers, Meehan & Tanne 2006 p5). Rogers et al indicate that as little as 10% of all organisations that set out to develop a high performing culture achieve their goal.

The purpose of education - The Learner's Way - 16 views

  •
Behind the rhetoric and politics, education is about the outcomes it achieves for its learners. More than being about the nuances of technology, learning space design, curriculum structures and pedagogical practices schools should have effective answers to questions that focus on what they hope to achieve for their learners. How we answer this question should then dictate the measures we utilise to achieve these goals and it is to these ends that we must apply our efforts.

Why banning technology is not the answer - The Learner's Way - 15 views

  •
There is something about human nature that draws us towards dichotomous patterns of thought; an all or nothing, us or them style of thinking in which an option is either good or it is bad. In such a model complexity and subtle nuance with multiple possible outcomes and routes towards a goal are ignored. The field of educational technology is one where such a pattern is evident and recent ban on technology by a Sydney school shows how this style of analysis can have a significant impact on student learning

Learning from the journey - The Learner's Way - 9 views

There is much to be learned from journeys. From stepping out of our doors and by placing one foot in front of the other making progress towards a planned destination. Journeys are a great metaphor for the challenges we face in our day to day lives and the parallels we draw may allow us to set a goal and achieve it despite the obstacles.

Learning vs Work in a Culture of Thinking - The Learner's Way - 10 views

  •
Earlier this year a group of teachers I work with explored the 'Eight Cultural Forces' identified by Ron Ritchhart of Harvard's Project Zero. In doing so we decided to focus on our use of the term learning instead of the word work. Our goal was to bring our language choices into the spotlight and explore how a more deliberate focus on learning might alter the culture of our classrooms. Two terms later this focus persists and it is worth reflecting on the effect that this has had.

12 Findings on Mind, Brain & Education | Getting Smart - 24 views

  • Students’ brains continuously adapt to the environments where they live and work.  As students learning in these places, these experiences gradually sculpt the architecture of the brain.
  • Students’ genetic predispositions interact with learning experiences to give rise to a wide range of individual differences.
  • Students learning English as a second language are processing written information in somewhat different ways than native English speakers so standard reading instruction techniques may not be the right fit for their needs.
  • ...9 more annotations...
  • Education should give students opportunities to practice setting goals, tracking progress toward them, adjusting strategies along the way, and assessing outcomes.
  • Emotions direct students’ learning processes, helping them gravitate toward positive situations and away from negative ones.
  • Mathematics is at least partially dissociable from other cognitive domains and abilities within the domain of mathematics can be dissociable from one another.
  • Education can support the development of emotional regulation skills, and this should be a priority as emotional regulation skills strongly predict academic achievement.
  • When students from disadvantaged backgrounds are in high-quality schools, their cortisol levels decrease throughout the day. The better the school, the more the cortisol levels decrease. Therefore, a quality learning environment can help students reach healthy cortisol levels, which lead to better emotional regulation and more favorable learning outcomes.
  • Environments that promote positive relationships and a sense of community promote learning.
  • Providing meaningful learning experiences with ongoing guidance can enable students at all levels to build toward mastery of a common set of skills.
  • This scientific evidence that emotion is fundamental to learning settles longstanding ideological debates concerning whether educators should be responsible for emotional development—if educators are responsible for intellectual development, they are inherently involved in emotional development as well.
  • Student-centered approaches to learning require students to be self-directed and responsible for their own learning, which requires executive functioning skills such as goal setting, planning, and monitoring progress.
  •
    Important findings!
