The National Parks: America's Best Idea: | PBS - 4 views

  •
"The National Parks: America's Best Idea is a six-episode series directed by Ken Burns and written and co-produced by Dayton Duncan. Filmed over the course of more than six years at some of nature's most spectacular locales - from Acadia to Yosemite, Yellowstone to the Grand Canyon, the Everglades of Florida to the Gates of the Arctic in Alaska - The National Parks: America's Best Idea is nonetheless a story of people: people from every conceivable background - rich and poor; famous and unknown; soldiers and scientists; natives and newcomers; idealists, artists and entrepreneurs; people who were willing to devote themselves to saving some precious portion of the land they loved, and in doing so reminded their fellow citizens of the full meaning of democracy."

The best part of the Art Project powered by Google is the option to create your own artwork collection while visiting each museum. As you're touring a museum click on the "+" symbol on any work of art see it in greater detail, to add it to your collection, & to open background information about that work of art. Doc Hendley - Extraordinary People Changing the Game - 0 views

  •
Biker. Bartender. Tattooed. "Rough around the edges." It's hard to imagine how the same man can also be called a humanitarian, philanthropist, NGO founder, and hero. That exactly what makes Dickson Beattie "Doc" Hendley extraordinary. He doesn't have an illustrious educational background. A C-student is how he'd describe himself - an average guy who happens to care so much for others that he literally risked his life to get results. He founded "Wine to Water" after a stint in Darfur at the height of the genocide. His 501 (c)(3) non-profit aid organization has helped thousands of people in 13 different countries. Yes, he's a CNN Hero. To read more about Doc Hendley visit www.thextraordinary.org
