The only problem is that the volume control in the coin door does not work (I believe the pot is bad).

The screen shows a repetitive pattern of (correct) ice-cube graphics, which will change if the DIP-switch setting is altered or the joystick is pushed. The sound amp seems to be ok, as the pot produces some noise when turned. The CPU seems to be ok, as the board reacts to switch settings.

As for the booting, I've looked over the schems, and it does appear that the +12v only goes to the amp. I would try removing the amp chip, then see if it boots with the 12v connected. If not, there may be a hairline short somewhere affecting the logic. If it does boot with the amp removed, it may well be a duff amp. The amp   is connected indirectly to the logic of the CPU, so it may be upsetting it.

I rigged a switcher to the harness, supplying the proper voltages, and the monitor is still fed thru the iso transformer.

PS: TO the Pengo emulator author: PLEASE ADD A VOLUME CONTROL!!!  EVERY TIME I LOAD IT IT BLASTS MY EARS OUT LIKE THIS!  It does'nt matter what the mixer volume is, when I run the Pengolator, it ALWAYS MAXES the volume and blasts my ears out (my card has no rear volume knob, and I'm using unpowweres speakers...)

I think it depends on which revision rom's are installed. I believe revision 1 has the Popcorn music where as revision 2 doesn't. John G.

Hell, I wish i knew someone around Michigan that had this game so i could just plug my board in their machine to see if it works.  Any Help?

My guess is, that at least one of the EPROMS is partially unreadable, or (worse) some video logic ist broken. It would be nice if someone could dump the EPROMS of his board and send the binaries to me or/and give some other repair hints.

Nice score...I have mint mappy with the exception of the bezel...been trying to find a mint one for a long time...I have one that is in nice shape...but always trying to find that nicer one..surprisingly tough to find this part...see the cabs but no one is ever willing to part it out....5 years ago I always saw parts cabs...now hardly ever... That being said if anyone has a minty mappy bezel...shoot me a pm..

I made a deal for this a couple weeks back and finally had a chance to pick it up last night. I got the idea that I wanted somthing like this after seeing the auctions for the Joust pins that have been popping up lately. I was looking for somthing different to add as one of the 2 final pieces that will fit in the arcade (The other being a MAME). Here's the pics:

Easy way to tell... look for the two big filter caps on the boards.. if they are there it's a pac man style board that's incompatible with the mappy cab..
