    Pengo.. $850 from mike doyle... i had a really nice pengo and only got $200 at the auction. the condition of mike's pengo plus the cardboard poster helps, but i didn't do all that great on the sale of my other one :( the whole auction was a buyers market.

  • I think it depends on which revision rom's are installed. I believe revision 1 has the Popcorn music where as revision 2 doesn't. John G.

  • PS: TO the Pengo emulator author: PLEASE ADD A VOLUME CONTROL!!!  EVERY TIME I LOAD IT IT BLASTS MY EARS OUT LIKE THIS!  It does'nt matter what the mixer volume is, when I run the Pengolator, it ALWAYS MAXES the volume and blasts my ears out (my card has no rear volume knob, and I'm using unpowweres speakers...)

    I had (Ron in Texas has it now) a home use only Pengo a couple of years ago and posted pics here. It still had the "Sega quality assurance" stickers over the locks and came with an original cardboard sign from the Pepsi promotion it was part of. I'll agree with your point that the term MINT is thrown around too often, but truely mint games do exist, I've owned them. Mike Doyle

  • As for the booting, I've looked over the schems, and it does appear that the +12v only goes to the amp. I would try removing the amp chip, then see if it boots with the 12v connected. If not, there may be a hairline short somewhere affecting the logic. If it does boot with the amp removed, it may well be a duff amp. The amp   is connected indirectly to the logic of the CPU, so it may be upsetting it.

  • The screen shows a repetitive pattern of (correct) ice-cube graphics, which will change if the DIP-switch setting is altered or the joystick is pushed. The sound amp seems to be ok, as the pot produces some noise when turned. The CPU seems to be ok, as the board reacts to switch settings.

  • The only problem is that the volume control in the coin door does not work (I believe the pot is bad).
