This is a great website that list several volunteer opportunities. I was once involved with the parent helping parent organizations. It was a very rewarding experience, I was very happy that I could add value to someone's life.

Often the area that I live in in Dorchester is stigmatized as a place of crime, a dangerous place to live. This is a community group that is determined to redefine the community (ROC)

I believe civic engagement goes further than our local communities. Through civic engagement globally, the need to empower others increases our awareness.

Session 1 My Personal Engagement project highlights violence; therefore it is very fitting for me to share this article. As the article states Dawn was an active community member, volunteer and mentor. She was committed to her civic engagement responsibilities.

Session 7 - Check this article out this guy exemplifies what it means to be a model citizen, in spite of his own situation. Boston steps up big time to help him out.

Session 6 This is a great way for people to help with keeping our neighborhoods clean.

Session 4, This is an artice that highlights the last Naturalization Ceremony hosted by our Mayor Marty Walsh. It is interesting that a new project was launched "Cities of Citizenship", the goal is to promote US Citizenship and volunteerism

Session 5, I wrote about how powerful the tool of a petition could be when trying to mobilize support. This is a great website where one can create a petition and promote it with instant access.

Doing Good Feels Good. Volunteer with SCP! SCP is part of Senior Corps, a network of national service programs that provides older Americans with the opportunity to apply their life experiences to meeting community needs. Senior Companions serve one-on-one with the frail elderly and other homebound persons who have difficulty completing everyday tasks.

Residents of assisted living homes would receive significant new protections under rules proposed Friday by Massachusetts regulators - changes aimed at closing gaps that threatened elders' safety. Under the strengthened regulations, assisted living residences would be prohibited from accepting residents so frail they need months of skilled nursing care.
