I had to post this for everyone after they read chapter 6 of Better Together. A friend of mine in college actually gave me this book a long time ago and I threw it in my bookshelf because I thought it was just super religious. It's actually pretty interesting, and I think I might read it all the way through this time.

http://www.pta.org/<-- classic a>t a lot of time for meetings being a working mom and dad. So the PTA allows families to stay informed, stay up-to date, and stay in the loop in terms of changes and alterations to school policy. I had no idea it was a website, to be honest.

I googled "how to lobby" and this website appeared. Reading into it, it was founded in 1970 as a method for citizens to have their voices heard on a range of democratic issues. The website aims to "restore American traditions" and uses lobbying, public education, and press outreach to effect a change in some public issues such as government ethics and accountability. To be honest, it sounds much like a tea party movement, but that's why research is so intriguing.

The Greater Boston Interfaith Organization is a group that very much mirrors the IAF. It was established to traverse the divisions of class and race in Boston. Centralized in Dorchester, this group works together to unite the communities of GB to address socially relevant issues, eg. health care reform.

The clothesline project is a T-shirt project started out in Cape Cod. Women who have suffered abuse. Each color represents a different type (eg rape, domestic violence, incest) and a sufferer can put whatever she likes on the shirt. They are then displayed at exhibits to showcase the reality of the situation.
